This is my first post here so please go easy on me
I recently just acquired a Dell Power Edge R415 server from work and have re-purposed it for some server hosting.
The VM Host / Physical Server;
x2 AMD Operteron 4386 (16 Cores)
32GB ECC RAM
x4 320GB 15k SAS HDD in a RAID 0 config using H700 controller that I just upgraded from the S300
The VM the minecraft server is running on is called Cortana;
This VM is running the lightest version of windows possible called windows 10 ameliorated
The VM has been given x2 cores, 4GB of RAM, and 120GB HDD Space
I am using Hyper-V Manager as my hypervisor.
My minecraft server seems to be struggling a little bit (looking at the screenshots). I have not changed any values within the Minecraft server config. My baseline is the 2 cores at 4gb of RAM with default configs settings for the server. I could go on a wild goose chase giving the server more ram or increasing the ram in the server config but I have decided to come to you guys for recommendations.
Along with that I totally understand the R415 was released in 2011 and the CPUs are mediocre at best. (Buttttt 've also seen people host stuff on was worse equipment, sheittt I hosted a server from a 4gb sony viao laptop from 2009 lmao)
What do you guys recommend? I hope I've provided enough information.
Please look at the image attachments to show more details.
Thank you guys so much and I look forward to your responses.
AHEM...... Is Windows Server the only os you've tried? Have you tried giving Linux a test? It would be interesting if it was os differences. Other than that it could be the cpu which I doubt

I just bumped the server (Cortana) to 6GB of RAM and 4 cores (previously 4gb and 2 cores), lets see how this runs now
Well I've allocated 4GB to the minecraft server and I'm still getting
Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 2036ms behind, skipping 40 tick(s)
So 4 core with 6gb ram on the server and 4gb allocated/allowed for the minecraft server. Any ideas?
