Hey all. Not sure how many can help here because linux isn't exactly common. So I'm trying to set up a server for my friends and I and I have the latest server packages and runtimes. But despite this neither my friends nor I can connect (I can if I use localhost as the IP), but if I use my public IP or a hostname it doesn't work. Here are all the configurations I've tried with server.properties. Not all, but you get it, as well as the outputs from the console with these different configs.
as pointed out in many many threads here, when hosting a server on a computer the hoster who is on the same network connects via the local ip or localhost, and NOT the external ip, the external ip connection will be refused when inside of the network, this is totally NORMAL.
the only people who should connect via the external ip are people outside of the network.
I'm pretty sure. I went into my router and directed 25565 to my desktop. Another page I saw said 19132 (or was it 13192) as a start point, so I tried both, still nothing. I also allowed the ports in UFW

Linux 18.04 LTS
Core i5 7600K
GTX 1070
16G RAM
if system config has anything to do with it
Even with my public IP none of my friends can join though. You only addressed half my issue, of which I'm thankful for the clarification
