I'm starting up a server for myself and some friends, and the main issue I am running into is getting the port to be open.
The desktop I am running it on is connected to a google wifi access point (unfortunately not directly connected to the router with ethernet, but that hasn't been a huge issue). The google wifi APs are connected to the main router, an AT&T U-verse router. I have tried opening the ports on both the google wifi and on the main router, but when I check, the ports are still closed.
Are there some settings that I am probably missing? I should have the ports forwarded on both parts of the wifi network, but I'm still not able to get an external connection to the server, and a port tester is saying that the ports are not open. Any ideas?
Are the Google access points only acting as access points, or a router as well. If you have double NAT going on, that's probably why you're having issues. I'd make sure your ATT router is in bridge mode and your Google WiFi setup is handling everything. Then just open the ports on the Google WiFi system and you should be good.
