Basically, I managed to set up my minecraft server. Everything worked, except I noticed it was extremely slow. I looked it up online, and saw that I needed to create a .bat file to increase the ram. So I did this, however, when I'm running the server from this .bat file, all of the server id addresses that worked before no longer work, and the only way I can play on the 2GB ram server is by using "local host".
Everything was working before, and I had played with friends. I have got 64 bit, and when i play with Localhost it runs fantastic. My issue is however, getting my other friends on this 2gb ram server.
Everytime I try with the server ip address (the same address that worked before) it says "io.netty.channel.AbstractChannel$AnnotatedConnectException: Connection timed out: no further information:"
Can someone please help?
Localhost is the ONLY way to connect to a server on the same machine. If your friends cannot connect it's an issue with portforwarding and/or firewall.
Can we see your Server.properties file??

I thought this might have been the case, however, when I ran the server without the bat file (with only 200M) the server ip worked (I played it with friends). So I dont believe that it's entirely the port forwarding's fault.
So did you actually try it without the bat file?
Yes, and it was extremely slow, as the Ram was extremely limited. It couldn't host more than 2 people without breaking, so I wanted to create a bat file to increase the ram limits.
You need to put your IPv4 IP address into the Server-IP=
so put that in there and make sure that IP is port forwarded. You can check here --> https://canyouseeme.org/

This didn't work. I tried putting it in, but the issue still persisted, and the open port tool also didn't work.
The server was working fine on the smaller ram without the server ip being in the properties.
It's something to do with how batch files interact with port forwarding
looks like nobody has any ideas on how to solve this problem
looks like im fresh out of luck
im going to make a new pc soon, so hopefully the problem lies from the computer that im using currently for this.
Thanks everyone for trying
From my personal experience, Having an IP in this config has always worked for me. as long as the port is forwarded

You need to go to your router page and port forward the port 25565 START/END for both TCP and UDP.
You and only you can join under the IP localhost.
Your friends must join from your public IPv4 which can be found here-https://www.whatsmyip.org/
