Hello Guys,
My roommate and I are attempting to setup a couple servers for us and some friends to play on. We have set the server IP to the machine we have dedicated to run the server(s), opened up ports ( yes we have tried port 25565). We got this error [io.netty.channel.AbstractChannel$AnnotatedConnectException: Connection Timed out: No further information].
After a bit of investigation, we traced this error to our Firewall blocking internal connections to the server. So we changed the local firewall policy to allow connections to the server. We were then able to connect and play!......but, nobody from the outside can connect. Now people on the outside are getting the same error we did before, and we cannot figure this out.
Any ideas to fix this would be appreciated!
Did you portforward properly? Are the outside people using your public IP address to connect?
Yes and yes. We even tried to use the port that is recommended for minecraft servers, but we kept getting the same error.
If you are behind a firewall/router/cable-modem from your internet connection provider, you might need to logon to that as administrator, and reduce its security level from high to medium or to low... or on it just punch an exception to your server's hosting port behind it.
I opened my port on TCP AND UDP for 25565-25565 from my router firewall page. NOT through my computer firewall.
Your friends will NEED to join under your public IPv4 address - Find it here: https://www.whatsmyip.org/
You obviously need to join under localhost.
