Recently set up a server for 6 friends to play MC together. (using the MC website in China is an absolutely nightmare btw, sometimes you need a VPN on, sometimes you need your VPN to be off, YIKES) We all bought accounts and all but one of use can log in and play normally. One account in particular is just not working. It can't stay connected to the server for more than 5 minutes. Made it to 15 minutes once after deleting his user data in the server's world folder. We are running 1.13.2. Specific Error messages:
Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.CorruptedFrameException: length wider than 21-bit
(this error appeared once)
Internal Exception: java.io.IOException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote
(this is usually the error that closes the connection to the server)
Here's where it gets weird.
This one specific account, when using different computers and installations of the game and java, still has the same problem. Has tried 4 different computers where the game connects to the server fine while being logged in with a different account. On his main computer we are also able to play fine using other accounts. It seems so strange but it seems very likely that the account is the culprit. But how could that be? Anyway, hoping someone has some suggestions on what to try next.
Do all computers that are being used have Internet Security? in particular Kaspersky??
Please refer to https://minecraftirc.net/support-articles/known-incompatible-software/
find what software you do have and remove or disable it.

That is interesting! Thanks for the link, it turns out we all use VPNs because we're foreigners living in China. The thing is, between us, we have five computers, all of them can play the game and connect to our server UNLESS and only unless the account being used is the one mentioned. I wonder if it's possible to get a refund for that account and just rebuy the game on a new account.
i dont think its an account issue though, hmm. It could be the server version of 1.13.2 being new may have issues? revert the server back to 1.13.1
Some players have issues some don't.
Also how are you guys running the server? Server hosted? local hosted? Spigot? Paper? CraftBukkit?

Might be totally unrelated but are all accounts using the same VPN & are all using a Wifi Router ??
I had a bit of trouble many years ago, not with a VPN (never used one) but with my ISP.
I had similar problem of getting 'knocked off' servers after a few minutes & it eventually turned out that ISP used different IP addresses depending on whether my Router was in 'Wifi' or 'Modem' mode
When it was in 'Wifi' mode the route to the server I played on (originally located in Canada) went from UK > Europe (Spain IIRC) > USA then Canada, but when in 'Modem' mode it used a different set of ip addresses that when traced went through Europe then directly to Canada
It was when I was in normal Wifi mode (PC connected via cable BTW so it wasn't down to 'dropped wifi signal') that I was losing connection now & again when the signal got to the USA IP addresses, yet when in Modem mode because the signal went straight to Canada bypassing USA I never lost the signal & could stay on the server without being knocked off
I'm wondering is your friend account is using a different 'path' (I don't know how VPN's work but I assume different VPN's use different methods of redirection) & somewhere along that connection there's a drop in signal causing him to get knocked off (Don't some VPN's have a time limit - especially on 'free' accounts ??)
If 'pinging' the route show a drop/lag at a particular IP address for him then possibly this is his problem & probably down to how his VPN is redirecting his signal.. or maybe the server is currently having problems at that IP address causing drops
his friend has used other computers to no avail. so not a vpn issue

This is my first time setting up a server. I'm just running it on a aliyun windows server 2016 that I use to host a website. Everyone has been being able to connect and have fun except for one of us which has been a big pain. He just made a new account but the problem for him (and only him) persists. I will look into rolling it back, never done that before, hopefully wouldn't have to start the map over
I wanted to double check that his computer wasn't the problem, so I logged in on his computer and also experienced the same problem of being kicked out very frequently. The computer seems to definitely have a problem, but this doesn't explain at all why his account, when logged into three different computers (all which run the game fine and can connect to our server fine when logged in on different accounts) experienced the same problems. He has another computer at his home that connects fine (for his GF) that's running over the same internet connection.
Probably corrupted player file, delete his' so it'll regenerate.
he said in original post he tried doing that.

Missed that somehow.
OP: post the entire server log using paste.ubuntu.com.
