Hi, I am 100% positive I set up my server properly, and the issue I have encountered only started happening to me yesterday.
Yesterday I loaded up my modded server with a BAT file and received several errors with some relating to the log and server properties text document. Some errors seemed to keep looping and I was forced to exit my command prompt, but when I used the server jar it had zero errors. After a few attempts again with the BAT file, it only succeeded twice out of around eight times before I couldn't replicate the desired result. I went to the folder with my vanilla minecraft server files and encountered the problem AGAIN, but it also was fixed by using the server jar.
I deleted the log and server properties text document on both, relaunched the jars to get new ones, and that didn't fix it.
I backed up my worlds, removed them from the servers, tried replacing the logs and server properties text documents once more, and made a new world, and that didn't fix it.
Deleting both folders with its server contents and starting from scratch didn't fix it either.
My servers are pretty resource demanding. My modded server uses Mo'Creatures, CustomMobSpawner, Ceramics, FoodExpansion, Timberjack, and Wearable Backpacks (removing the mods still provided the same outcome), and neither servers use plugins; unfortunately, 1GB of RAM is not sufficient for either server because mobs will stutter and lag will make the game annoying to play. My multiplayer worlds are not the ones I prioritize, but this is frustrating because I use them to play with friends or family.
I tried to see if anyone had already created a thread and had this resolved, however I have yet to see on this forum or elsewhere other players struggling with this. I don't know if this is caused necessarily by the servers themselves or if my computer is to blame. The only thing I THINK (not the most tech savvy with this) might've affected this is updating Java. I have attached two images, and hope ya'll can help me.
I tried my best, though knowing me I might have forgotten some key information. Please let me know what else I can give you if you think it may clarify what needs to be addressed.
Right click your server.properties file, and go into its properties.
Click the Security tab, and then select the username, espin.
Is there a checkmark for Deny on the Write row? When I denied myself write privileges on the server.properties file, I got the same crash message.
If there is a checkmark, hit the edit button, and select espin to change the write permission, and uncheck the Deny on the Write row.
Here's kinda what you're gonna need to change (ignoring the username, name of the file, and what have you), in case you're uneasy about messing around with permissions (the image shows what window should pop up after you hit the edit button).
It's really weird that all of a sudden this error pops up though. Not to mention the fact that it works with the jar files.
Could there be a problem with the bat file? When you tested vanilla, did you copy paste the bat file to the vanilla folder and run it that way? What's the strangest part is you deleting the folders, starting from scratch, and still getting the same error.
Thank you! I opened up a new text document and created a fresh bat file for the vanilla server, I didn't copy and paste the old bat file into the new folder if that's what you mean. It's indeed strange because I don't think the permissions for "write" is denied on my user, but my screen varies a little bit from your screenshots.

Your file permissions are broken.

How would I fix that?
Set the proper permissions. You can right click the .bat file and select "run as admin" as a temporary fix.

When I run the BAT file as administrator the console window opens for a second and then closes.
I also don't understand HOW to set the proper permissions, I never ran into an issue like this before and I need some specifics.
