Hi, i recently set up a dedicated Minecraft server, and I'm having some problems with it.[/p]
Whenever I join, the server lags out and no one can do anything, the console keeps saying my username is moving too fast, and will say the "Error: Cant keep up did system time change skipping X ticks"" message.[/p]
I'm not really sure why it's only when I join that these problems happen.[/p]
The server is on a Windows 10 Pro PC, running an Intel i5-2520M @ 2.5GHz, with 6GB of ram, and a 120GB PNY SSD. I disabled a majority of features in windows to make sure the server would run as smoothly as possible, such as telemetry, and visual effects. I have the power setting set at high performance, and its monitor is running 800x600p, at 40Hz. It's connected directly to my router through Ethernet, and according to a speed test through https://www.speedtest.net the computer is receiving 96MBPs down, and 111MBPs up.[/p]
The server is Minecraft Forge Server version 1.12.2 - 14.23.5.2796[/p]
What I'm connecting from is a Windows 10 Pro PC as well, hooked into the same router through Ethernet. I've tried connecting to my server from 3 ways, my No-IP DNS name, my routers real IP, and the servers local IPv4 address, all of which have caused the same issue of massive lag for everyone on the server.[/p]
Why is it only when I join the server that the server decides to lag out like this? Is it because of the router i'm using, or is there a setting somewhere i missed?[/p]
You are using a forge server. Forge isn't necessarily a good server software. There are alternatives that include forge, such as Sponge. I would recommend using Sponge. Sponge is like the spigot of forge servers. They offer any version of forge and way more stability. You can get that here. Sponge also allows plugins just like spigot servers. Unfortunately, anything that runs with forge is really hard to run no matter what the specs are.
You don't need to delete any mods or worlds to use Sponge, you can simply just transfer the worlds over. If you do decide to transfer, consider backing up your current server and files just to eliminate the chances of loss.

I hope this helps, please tell me if it works!
