hi, been playing for the past few weeks, haven't played in a few years. i started up a server completely fine, port forwarded it and everything, but now all of a sudden i cannot even enter my own server, let alone my friends.
I have tried directly connecting with my ip, and also through localhost but that same error message appears everytime.
You don't "connect with your IP" to a server hosted on the same machine, it won't work regardless, that's what "localhost" is for. Using this website it will tell you if you properly portforwarded https://dinnerbone.com/minecraft/tools/status/
using that site it was able to tell me that something was not right. and i found that when running the cmd prompt on windows my local ipv4 was a different number than before. so i just had to simply change that in my router settings.
is there any way of preventing the IPV4 from changing? its not that big of a deal i just need to simply log into my router and change it if it happens again, but is there a way of preventing that from happening?
