My brother and I have always loved playing Minecraft together, but it has been a hassle lately. First off, I just bought a brand new 2017 13" MacBook Pro. Now here are the issues.
When playing Lan on the network with the internet: When I host it, he sees it and can connect fine. When he hosts it, I have to do direct connect and that usually works.
When playing Lan on the network without internet: Again when I host it, he sees it and can connect. When he hosts it, I do my direct connect thing and it will say something like "Failed to connect: the authentication servers are down for maintenance".
I have never had this issue before and it is driving me nuts. He also has a MacBook Pro. I've set our settings identical. I've installed JAVA and have the latest version, firewall and FileVault are off, and as already mentioned I have to do the direct connect method. We don't get internet access up at our cabin so we used to set up a network, but that is no longer working unless I host the world which is not an option. I've already contacted Mojang and awaiting a reply.

Has anyone else at least had the same problem?
