Whenever a new player joins my server, they cannot speak and have to be opped to do so. I, personally, do not want to op random players just so they can speak on the server as it gives them access to unwanted things (such as ban, etc). Can someone help me out? Thanks!
I came here because I hadn't found any pex tutorials online. For some reason, deopped players can't speak on my server, I've found a pex tutorial but it just covers how to set up permissions, not how speak permissions and other stuff works.
Have you maybe followed a guide and put - modifyworld.* in your config?
If so, that disables chat by default; you either don't use that default "no permission", or you have to explicitly add a group and give the permission to chat, "/pex group default add modifyworld.chat"
- modifyworld.* was already there when I installed pex, but "/pex group default add modifyworld.chat" worked.

have you checked your permissions?
Where would I look in my permissions? I'm hosting my server with MCProHosting (mcph), btw.
If anyone's curious: I'm hosting a bukkit server with MCPH (MCProHosting).
The plugins I have installed currently, are:
The permissions would be the ones you convince in permissions ex
Just look up a video for how to use pex in your version of bukkit. there are plenty out there

That didn't work, either. I tried removing - modifyworld.* and kept - modifyworld.chat and it still didn't work. (I tested it on a friend btw)
I added - modifyworld.chat to every group (default, moderator, admin, owner) because I thought it would work better. Maybe that's the issue?
OH! I see now, yeah, I think I know what to do.
So do I just remove the - at the start of each permission that I want the specified groups to have?
Yep, if the minus means remove, then not having it will mean those groups get those permissions. Have fun!
I just took the Minecraft Noob test! Check out what I scored. Think you can beat me?!
