I have made my own modpack and my friends keep joining. Even with nobody in the server it skips ticks. I was wondering if there was any way to fix this, or reduce it.
The server usually skips around 50-110 ticks. Making simple stuff like hitting a player or mod, breaking a block, or even just animations and movement very skippy. I've allocated as much as 6 gigs of ram but it just seems to make it laggier. So I have reduced it to half a gig of ram at most and it's a bit better. Does anyone know any techniques to better the performance
I have looked up many things to help this but the one thing that seems to have worked the absolute best in reducing TPS lag is one simple .bat command. If you are having TPS lag problems, go into your ".bat" file that you use to launch the server, through notepad. Change the line of code from what ever you have to:
java -Xmn1G -Xms2G -Xmx2G -XX:NewSize=512M -XX:SurvivorRatio=2 -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:ParallelGCThreads=4 -d64 -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+CMSIncrementalPacing -XX:+AggressiveOpts -jar (Insert your forge version here).jar
pause
If it doesn't work at first change the variables of the Xms & Xmx around to the desired amount of RAM. If it still doesn't work install OPIS to try and find the source of the TPS lag.
