So I'm running a vanilla server for me and my friends, and I want to add a resource pack to it. The pack is one I made that changes 3 of the music disc songs to different ones. I tested the pack on single player and it works just fine. So I used dropbox to upload my file and got this link for direct download:
When I load it into my server.properties file, and go onto my server it asks whether I accept. it then says "Downloading file: (29.something MB) and when it finishes I put a disc into a jukebox and it still plays the original songs, What am I doing wrong? I think it has something to do with my link and/or dropbox.
Try uploading it to MediaFire (mediafire.com) and leave "https://" out of the link you put into the properties file. The server might not know what it is. I noticed it also doesn't like Pack.zip?dl=1 on the end of your link, as it tries to insert a slash (The reason for your problem). MediaFire links have worked fine for me without problems in the past.
I think i generated a new link with media fire, and if i put this one into the properties file and start my server, the same things happen, the original song plays.
My server also says something about a "sha 1 hash" when it starts up, about me not specifying it. I dont think thats the problem, but I'd just like to include every detail here.

I also included a picture of my server properties file, if its any help. Thanks!
I would recommend not to install it on your server, but individually. What I mean by that is, have your friends download the pack and equip it in the menu, have them connect to your server. It should work just fine that way. This way pretty much ensures that the resource pack will work. Try it out and tell me if that helps!:D
Yes, there must be a bug with the server resource packs right now. Any direct download link used to work, but for some reason will not. Since you are only hosting for your friends, I would do what Minecraftgal said and give the download link to your friends and have them add it onto their client as well.
Tell Us if it worked just doing it individually. I always download resource packs separately I never do it in server.properties because it is very glitchy. Hope I helped!

Browsing for texture packs? Why not try some of mine?

I also removed the http:// from the original link, which is this one:

I could do that, true. Thanks for the reply. If this doesn't work again, I'll do that.

EDIT: Hey check this out: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Server.properties
Look at where it explains "resource-pack" and "resource-pack-sha1". It must be something new. I'm going to look into this further.
EDIT: This might help as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/4k4639/how_can_i_use_resourcepacksha1/

Yes, thank you both for the help I'm going to send my friends the file and call it a day.
Thanks again!
I might look into the sha-1 stuff as well, just to figure out what I'm doing here.
