I would like to prefix this to say I'm new and sorry if I should ask this somewhere else: Someone in my family has a windows 10 computer, and i have windows 7. i can never get on his/her LAN world, and they cannot get on mine. I've tried multiple worlds, and we can still both connect to the same minecraft servers, like hypixel, the hive, cubecraft, mineplex, etc. Why is this? Is it because of the windows 7/10 gap? Is there a way to resolve it, other than one of us up/down grading? Any insight is welcome, and please try to speak in basic terms for I know nothing of computers.
Okay, first of all you should well know that if both of you are not playing on the same version of minecraft it is impossible to connect to each other on LAN.
Also, you should check whether both of you are on the same network(same router if you have many).
If both of them is true then you might want to try letting your family enter your ip and the port.(Minecraft -> multiplayer -> direct connect -> <ip:port> -> "enter")
(To find your ip go start menu -> cmd and type "ipconfig" [without quotes]. As for the port you should see it when you "Open to LAN" in minecraft.)
*Btw, you should post this in unmodified client support.
