I have this problem that just occurred and I forgot how to fix it. I'm trying to allocate at least 3GB to my local minecraft server, but it doesn't start.
"Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for 3145728KB object heap".
I have 8GB of Ram and can allocate 7.46GB to whatever I want. Can anyone help please?
Go to the command prompt and type java -version and hit enter. Does it mention 64 bit anywhere?
No; this is the start up info:
java -Xms4096M -Xmx4096M -jar spigot.jar nogui
pause
-------------------------------------------------------------------
this is what typing in java -verison in command prompt brings up:
java version "1.8.0_111"
java(tm) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_111-b14)
Java HotSpot (tm) Client VM (build 25.111-b14, mixed mode)
You're running 32 bit Java. Go install and use 64 bit instead.
