Hi, as you probably guessed I am attempting to create a self hosted server on my Ubuntu(Linux) laptop. I followed several port forwarding tutorials on my Linksys E1200 router, but whenever someone else or me on my other laptop tries to join, I cannot!
I called my local ISP provider and they say they aren't blocking any of those ports on their end, so what could it be?
I am sure I have port forwarded correctly on my router, and I don't have a firewall installed on my Ubuntu that I know of(The OS was installed recently.)
My guesses are that either there is something I need to configure on my router or that, if possible, my ISP's ISP provider could be blocking the ports(I'm dont think this is even possible but just putting it out there).
It may have to do with firewall? Onwww.ipfingerprints.com/portscan.php it is marked as "filtered" and http://www.ipfingerprints.com/faq.php#q33 defines that as "A port is marked as "filtered" when the packets are sent to that port, however packet filtering (e.g., firewall) prevents the packets from reaching that port."
[11:04:06] [Server thread/WARN]: **** FAILED TO BIND TO PORT! [11:04:06] [Server thread/WARN]: The exception was: java.io.IOException: Error during bind(...): Cannot assign requested address [11:04:06] [Server thread/WARN]: Perhaps a server is already running on that port?
Googled the error and everyone says leave server IP blank. I am not planning on running bungee until later, taking this one step at a time.
Sorry! It was a late night for me, I was tired! I did not understand what you meant regarding the ifconfig ip, I do not know how to read the ifconfig very well as I am new to Ubuntu! But thank you so much for clarifying that.
Looking at my terminal, it looks like it is different than yours, because there is no eth0. I don't know if this is important or not, but here is my ifconfig output(I took out the IPv6 addresses as I do not know if they are safe to give out):
I ran it, the server.properties server ip is "server-ip=192.168.1.114", and my server started up fine. However when I check http://www.ipfingerprints.com/portscan.php on port 25565, it still marks it as filtered. Does this affect it or have I(you, really, as I am just following) fixed it?

Checked 192.168.1.1 for the hundredth time, > Applications and Gaming > Single Port forwarding > Port 25565 is internal & external, TCP & UDP selected, IP is 192.168.1.114, enabled

Let's check if your version has selinux then, another firewall. Reply back with the output of the following 2 commands.
ccasati@ccasati:~$ sestatus
The program 'sestatus' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
sudo apt install policycoreutils
ccasati@ccasati:~$ cat /etc/sysconfig/selinux
cat: /etc/sysconfig/selinux: No such file or directory
ccasati@ccasati:~$
Fairly sure it doesn't work like this but is there some way my ISP's ISP could be blocking the ports?

When I tested the ports using http://portchecker.co/check, http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/, and http://www.canyouseeme.org/ they all say port 25565 and alike is blocked!
I called my local ISP provider and they say they aren't blocking any of those ports on their end, so what could it be?

If anyone can help, please do!
One thing I forgot to mention; This problem isn't local, I have the same problem on my other laptop.

Tried that, and got this error:
[11:04:06] [Server thread/WARN]: **** FAILED TO BIND TO PORT!
[11:04:06] [Server thread/WARN]: The exception was: java.io.IOException: Error during bind(...): Cannot assign requested address

2854 pts/1 S+ 0:00 grep --color=auto java
ps x | grep java returned: 3240 pts/2 S+ 0:00 grep --color=auto java
screen -ls returned: No Sockets found in /var/run/screen/S-ccasati.
I also rebooted(Shutdown then open) my computer several times. My IP in server.properties is 192.168.1.1.
Again, for the 900th time.
192.168.1.1 is the WRONG ip address. STOP USING IT.

Perfect, now do this.
server.properties:
server-ip=192.168.1.114

Run the minecraft server, visit:
www.canyouseeme.org
Type 25565 and hit "Check Port"
Tell me if it says it can, or can not see your service on port 25565.
Filtered means something is still blocking access to that port. Double check your port forwarding, and double check ufw.
canyouseeme said that "Error: I could not see your service on 192.188.84.39 on port (25565)
Reason: Connection timed out"
Triple checked ufw, got "Skipping adding existing rule
Skipping adding existing rule (v6)"

Not likely, but also not impossible. Link your entire server.properties file as it currently exists.
