After the latest time Ive stopped my server if just wont work again, every time i open the start command i closes almost intently, i couldn't read the things that it said but i found it in the log folder:
[21:27:51] [Server thread/INFO]: Loading properties
[21:27:51] [Server thread/INFO]: Default game type: SURVIVAL
[21:27:51] [Server thread/INFO]: Generating keypair
[21:27:52] [Server thread/INFO]: Starting Minecraft server on *:25565
[21:27:52] [Server thread/INFO]: Using default channel type
[21:27:52] [Server thread/WARN]: **** FAILED TO BIND TO PORT!
[21:27:52] [Server thread/WARN]: The exception was: java.net.BindException: Address already in use: bind
[21:27:52] [Server thread/WARN]: Perhaps a server is already running on that port?
[21:27:52] [Server thread/INFO]: Stopping server
[21:27:52] [Server Shutdown Thread/INFO]: Stopping server
i know i can find a solution on other websites but i cant find the solutions for my, i think wat caused this is that i put in the stop command when i tryed to close it, how can i fix it? plz help

Hello! This is a very simple fix.
I often refer to this occurrence as a "ghost" instance of the server. Basically something occurred that prevented your server from completely shutting down, but the screen or session controller is now gone. Unfortunately its still running on your port so you cant bind a new task to it. So we must KILL it
If you are on a Linux system there are several ways to go about doing this:
Method 1 - Manually find the process and shut it down
Step 1: ps aux
this will show all processes running on the machine. on the right side all the run commands are listed, find your server, then find the pid.
Step 2: kill -9 PID
Step 3: Reboot your server without any issues
Method 2 - Wipe all java instances running (careful if other programs are running)
- killall java
Method 3 - Grab the port and terminate all activity on it
- fuser -n tcp -k 25565
On windows its the same thing just uglier. If you plan on running a real server, i suggest moving to linux distro
Same as on linux, we will run a command to give us all processes.
- netstat -a -o -n
should look like this
run down the list until you find port 25565
locate the pid and terminate it
- taskkill /F /PID YOUR_PID_HERE
Hope that helped, alternatively you can also just restart your computer!
Likely the only thing that's going to be using 25565 is a hung MC server, so rather than fiddle around with netstat just do taskkill /im java* /f to kill any running instances of Java. Then try to fire your server up again. Or even easier, do as Champ said and just restart the machine.
Changing the port is a crappy fix, it's addressing a symptom and not a problem. It's better to fix the problem than bypass it.

Btw the window doesn't stay(it closes intently) that's the different from my problem to the others,
Im pretty sure no, i think is the server that i ran didnt close and stay open on that port, is there a way to close it?
That sounds like you haven't agreed to the EULA in the server files. Open it up, change false to true and the server window will stay up.
My computer specs:
Intel Core i5-4690K, Asrock Z97X Killer ATX Mobo, Corsair Vengeance 16GB, Hyper 212 Evo, GTX 1060, EVGA 750Watt PSU, 840 Evo 120GB SSD, 1TB WD Blue, NZXT H440 (black/red).
Im pretty sure no, i think is the server that i ran didnt close and stay open on that port, is there a way to close it?
well my mom and my dad are the only two other person who uses the wifi
Ive thought about that, i did check the folder and i did change it to true
i did
Ive thought about that before, i checked the file and i did change it to true.
Yay thx, it works now, but how im i gonna get my friends to join my server with out the ip address?

Hi, it seems like i couldnt find the port 25565 in the list, also the linux solutins doesn't work for me, is there any other solutions?
The port is there if you run those commands!
By default you can also restart your computer, that will clear anything running on that port.
