I am trying to host a server from my windows PC. I have been able to successfully host and have other players join with the world that is created when you make a server. My problem is when I try to upload my friends saved world onto the server. I have already uploaded the world and changed the name to "world" and changing within the server.properties file the name of the level name nothing works. When I start the server with the new world in the folder the server starts with the pop up window and then closes by itself within a couple seconds.
I am using windows 10
java version 8.0.20
I am running this from one machine
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the minecraft server.exe multiple times, I have tried renaming the file many different names, copying all of the data from my saved world into the pre loaded world folder with the server. I have also had my friend send the files to me multiple times. Nothing has worked.
I have also made sure port forwarding works and as I have said before the minecraft server works perfectly fine without loading my saved world. But when I try to run it then the server will not run.
So you took your friend's world and copied it onto your machine. You didn't need to rename it to world, you could've just set the level-name to whatever the folder name was. I assume by servers.txt you mean server.properties? If not, then try editing the right file. No idea what "servers.txt" is. In the world folder of your friend's map, are there folders like data, playerdata, regions, etc? When you brought the friend's world folder over, did you put it in the same folder as the server executable file?
Yes I tried just changing the level name to the name of the world. Doesn't make a difference. Yes I meant servers.properties I said that because it's a text file. Yes there are data, player data folders because we have played on that map before. I deleted the previous world folder and replaced it in the same place with our saved world that I got from my friend.
