Hello all, I have been googling this and researching for over a week now. I have created a server on a virtual Ubuntu server. I am able to connect to it locally, but friends cannot connect from outside my network. My ports are all forwarded correctly, and I am having them try to connect using my external IP with no success. Can anyone provide some insight?
have you configured a local ip to go to the VM and then port forward to that but why use a vm to run a server cant you just run it as normal on your native system?
Hey there Icswolf, thanks for the response. On my local network, I set the router to forward to the virtual server that is hosting the minecraft server. I have it set up that way because I don't want to leave my computer on at all times, but want to leave the server running at all times. I'm relatively new to networking though, so I'm including a picture from my asus router, displaying how I have the port forwarded. Maybe it will help shed some light on what I might have done wrong.
