Hello people so problem is that when i am playing with 1 friend on my server but its laging so much that its unplayable. so i was trying to add more RAM to my server. i have 8GB ram on my computer and 7,19 usable. i try to add 2000MB of ram to my server but then i get an error message saying minecraft could not reserve enough space for object heap 2000mb or something. i mean my computer has 8GB RAM and im trying to add 2GB ram to my server and its not working?
please help. im pretty sure 8gb is enough ram for me to able to add 2gb to my server
200mb isn't an allowed value, has to be a multiple of 64. I would recomend downloading BukkitGUI (Google It) Paste the program in the same location as your .bat file. Launch it and in the superstart tab change the allowed memory. It goes into better detail than changing it manually in your server files.
But why do i download a bukkitgui when i dont have a bukkit server, i only have a normal minecraft server from minecraft.net does the bukkitgui work on a none bukkit server?
Edit: i tried downloading bukkitgui and i changed the ram settings for my server but when i start the server i get this sort of same error message:
GUI:starting vanilla server - min. RAM:128 - max. RAM:3245
GUI: the server is starting...
GUI: server started...
12:09:24 Error occurred during initializing of VM
GUI: the server has stopped...
this is very very strange, i have 8gb of ram on my computer and i cant even add 3gb? anyone knows the problem?
well i just checked it out and it seems like im running java 64 bit so i dont know why i cant add more ram to my server when i already have alot of ram

i am using a bat file called run.bat to start the server
and the server text is:
java -Xms2048M -jar minecraft_server.1.8.9.jar -o true
PAUSE

"-Xms2048M" Won't work, -Xms isn't a valid option in java. It needs to be "-Xmx2G -Xmn128M" or "-Xmx2048M -Xmn128M".
