Hello all, I am in need of some help. I've built my own mod pack, it works and runs fine, and now I want to share it with friends. I've looked it up on google before, and tried doing it following numerous tutorials, but none of them have worked for me. These are the mods I'm wanting to use on the server. I know how to set up a basic server using the right jar file and such, but adding mods is beyond me. If anyone could point me towards the right direction or help me set it up I would be very happy as a fellow minecrafter.
First, download the Minecraft Forge installer here. (this link is for Forge 1.6.4, I'm assuming this is the version your using after glancing at the mod pack)
Once you've downloaded the Forge Installer, go ahead and open the .Jar file.
Once opened, select "Install Server", then select the "..." icon and choose the folder you want to install the server into. (this can be any folder exept the main location of Minecraft)
My user folder is blurred out for security reasons.
once installed, start the server (run the Forge server, not the Vanilla Minecraft server), once the server has fully loaded, go ahead and stop the server (type "stop" and press enter) then place all of the mods into the "mod" folder, configure any of the server settings to your liking and your server is almost ready to go.
now, you'll need to setup the server to play with your friends by either...
1. Hosting the server using your computer.
Before using this method, make sure your computer / internet connection are capable of hosting a server, go to canihostaminecraftserver.com and enter your computer's RAM (or the amount of RAM you want to use) and your internet speeds, as long as the server can host the amount of players you need, you're good to go.
If you can't (or don't want to) host a server using your computer, you can use a Minecraft Server Host, although it costs money to use a server host, it usually isn't that expensive to host a server for just a few players, some server host's can even help setup your server. (sometimes for an additional fee)
Either way, once you set it up, you have to share the address for the server with your friends, if your hosting the server at home, sharing your IP address isn't the best idea, since most residental IP addresses are usually Dynamic (they often change), you can get around this by either buying a web domain or you could use a Dynamic DNS service. (like DTDNS, I actually use DTDNS myself)
Thank you so much for that! When you glanced through the mod pack, did you notice any client-only mods that you were aware of? I'm getting an error when I try to launch the server with the mods installed. I'm not sure if it's because of client-only mods, but that's all I could think of it being. If it would help I could pastebin the error log.
Thank you all for the information. I removed all of the mods you all listed and I'm still getting a server crash. MrFiretruck, I couldn't find the appropriate mantle for 1.6.4, all I could find were versions for 1.7.2 and up. If you have a link, I'd be very appreciative. Also, here is what pops up in the server console when it crashes. If anyone needs the actual crash log I can post that, too.
I would just like to note that I did read through both the server console and the crash logs before I made the comment about it not working, and my untrained eye couldn't find any solid answers as to why it's not working. I noticed some of the mods pre-initialized and some of them errored and I honestly have no clue what the issue is.
Mantle is only required for 1.7.2 and up, so there isn't a 1.6.4 version. Unless I'm seriously mistaken here.
From the looks of it, there's another clientside mod looking for a method that does not exist - as it is not a client. Post the crash report, there should be some more information in there.

Realistic Torches - Causes torches to burn out after a configurable amount of time.
Nature's Compass - A utility item that allows you to search for any biome's location in the world.
Caused by Better Tools. I'm not familiar with the mod so I'm not sure what to suggest other than to remove it. It seems to be calling some outdated ModLoader method (ModLoader is not present on servers, only on clients as part of FML).

Says right there at the top of the crash report. Factorization is requesting Forge 953 or lower. Switch Forge versions or add the argument "-Dfactorization.ignoreForgeVersion=true". I'd recommend trying the argument first.

You didn't have mantle (the coremod for TConstruct)
wutes uop m9 haven e grext deey?
You'll also want to remove Shatter and Damage Indicators from the server's mods, in addition to all minimaps as BH_Staff mentioned.
Realistic Torches - Causes torches to burn out after a configurable amount of time.
Nature's Compass - A utility item that allows you to search for any biome's location in the world.
Notes - Provides a clientside in-game notepad.
Souls - After you die, a hostile Soul that stores your inventory will spawn.
Auto Refresh - Automatically refreshes your server list and alerts you when your selected server comes online.
Pick Block Plus - A clientside mod that significantly improves the vanilla pick block function.
And a few others that we don't talk about.

There ya go.
If there is anything else I could provide to get some assistance I'd be happy to oblige.

Still crashed. Here's the pastebin of the crash report. What it could be is beyond my knowledge now.

I'm still getting the same crash even after setting that argument.
Weird, the argument should've fixed it. Try using Forge #953, I guess. Or get rid of Factorization if you prefer.
