Hello there,
With the rising population of Minecraft Bukkit servers, I know there are a few inexperienced server owners out there. Within the last few months, I've been helping people on the Bukkit and Spigot forums with very common issues. A lot of them are relating to lag. So, I've put together this guide to basically show you how you can reduce lag on your Minecraft server. Take note that this will not fully eradicate lag, but, it will help your server run more smoothly. Also, I would not recommend that you use the exact figures that I use here; play around with them until you find something that suits you.
A few other common causes of lag:
Too many worlds with MultiVerse/MultiWorld
Too many worlds with complex world generation from plugins like EpicWorldGenerator
Too many un-needed plugins
Not enough RAM and processing power on your servers machine
