I'm trying to port forward so people from outside my LAN can connect to my Minecraft server, but because we have two routers I seem to be running into a little bit of trouble. The current setup is as follows:
Computer with MC Server <-wired-> Linksys E1200 in Bridge Mode <-wired-> Technicolor TC7210 <-wired-> The interwebz
The Linksys is set in Bridge Mode because it is only functioning as an access point (both wired and wireless), port forwarding on this device is therefore disabled (because it shouldn't be necessary?).
The Technicolor is port forwarding as follows:
The IP address it forwards to is the static IP of my computer, the device running the Minecraft server. This doesn't seem to be working though, whenever I check on canyouseeme.org the port seems to still be closed off. It's not a firewall issue either (at least not on my computer), I've added exceptions to it and even when it's disabled completely it doesn't seem to work.
My guess would be that the Technicolor can't directly forward to my PC because of the Linksys in-between, but I have no idea how to properly fix that problem. Advice would be appreciated.
the port might be being blocked at the ISP level. That would mean you would have to talk to your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to get it unblocked. Sometimes they will charge you extra to unblock it
I have the same problem with my ISP, Centurylink.
After looking for specific cases with my ISP and forwarding port 25565 someone was clever enough to notice that (websites such as) canyouseeme.org can't detect whether or not the port is open unless the server in question is actually running. So after booting the server I concluded that everything was working after all.
Thanks for mentioning it could be an ISP issue, otherwise I never would've known.
