It has been quite a while since I've posted on the forums and unfortunately this must be a call for help with hosting a server.
I've (obviously) been trying to host a Minecraft server again, but I've come up with some problems. Like I said I've hosted servers for my friends before, but this time my friends cannot connect to the server and receive this message when they try to connect "java.net.ConnectionException: Connection timed out: no further information"
I am currently running:
Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit
Java 8 Update 51
My current router is the Actiontec T2200H
What I've done so far to help fix this problem is:
Made sure the port is allowed through my Firewall
I have made sure that DMZ and UPnP are both disabled

I do apologize this is among the many threads that ask how to solve this problem, but I do appreciate any help.
It is IPv4 by the way. It looks like the server started but it must be a port forwarding issue or you have given the wrong external IP. Do a google search for my ip and it will show your external IP that you give out (make sure you aren't using a VPN for browsing). From what I've read it is because the server needs more ram allocated. You will need to create a server_start.bat to do this.
You can take a look at these videos to see if it will help you.
I do you thank you for the reply. I really appreciate it.
Although it may be IPV4, router has a firewall and an "IPV6 Firewall". I am very sure that I'm giving out my external IP(definitely does not start with 192). I'll see to running it with more ram if that fixes the issue. As I said I do have experience hosting a server, but I do thank you for the extra references as well.

With the server open I have check if the port is open with http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/
Allowed the port through the IPV6 Firewall on my modem
Added it as an application through the modem

Thank you again for the reply and help, but it seems that running the server with more RAM does not alleviate the problem.
