Good day, I have a new Dedicated server and its running Linux CentOS. My server is running fine, (SMP.McValhalla.com) but I am not able to close the Minecraft 'Screen".
I googled for 3 hours, I was told Ctrl+a, D closes a screen but keeps the session live. When I try this, and every other combination of this command, nothing happens. When i type "screen-r" etc nothing happens, it merely enters that syntax into my Minecraft Console.
I am very new to all this, so any educating would be very accepted.
Synopsis: How can I keep my server going, even after I close PuTTY? Thank you in advance.
Are you actually making a screen for your server? Or are you just entering your script on the main screen. What I mean by this is do you preform this command in the terminal...
screen -S <screen name>
From there you would than run your script. To disconnect, you can do CTRL - A - D (press simultaneously) or just close the terminal down.

This is my script to start the server

xvenom1291x is right, "screen" is a software and it doesn't refer as your terminal window.
Enter a new screen, with "screen -S <screen_name>", and THEN, inside that screen, start your minecraft as usual.
Be careful NOT to add the "screen -S ..." line inside your start script, as it will NOT work.
Also, you can close putty without detaching, when you're inside the screen.
To reconnect to the screen window, use "screen -r <screen_name>"
