Hello all! I have ran a Minecraft server before and had lots of fun with it. After a computer wipe, I decided to re-download Minecraft and start the server again. However, others cannot connect.
I have a static IP, have port-forwarded my router, and have allowed exceptions in my Windows and McAfee firewall. See attached screenshots.
Router: Arris DG950
I can connect just fine to the server. My friend is trying to connect using my external IP, but alas nothing is working. On canyouseeme.org, all I get is "connection timed out" when I test the port (yes, the server is up).
Well this might be nothing but in your server properties, you havnt placed your ip in the file. Under server-ip place your ip. then run the server and it should work.

I'm having the same problem, details posted in a thread a little farther down this forum. I have also set up a server before and don't know what the issue is.
Ok, I have finally fixed the issue. I did two things and I'm not sure which one fixed the issue.
1. I changed "open ports" under my McAfee firewall to "All computers" (see attachment)
2. I returned my Arris DG950 (modem+router) for just a standard Arris modem and am now using my own router (Netgear). I then port-forwarded the new router. *Note* WIth my new modem and router, my IP changed.
That is good, and for future reference, you do not want to post your ip on the internet. This can lead to computer hacking that could compromise your computers data. But im glad it got fixed!

Another screen shot that I couldn't attach to the first post.

jccrepeau,
That is a good idea, but one I have already tried. I tried using both the static and default IP, both of which did not work.
Based off the research I've done, I'm fairly certain this issue lies somewhere in my router.
