Just saying, NO ONE would donate 5000 dollars to get owner rank. Also, the ranks are EXTREMLY OP even for 10$ renaming OTHERs? really? Also there is MANY errors on the website (Grammar errors ETC) Just no.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Well, I think I found what I'LL be in the after life. <3 Goats for life.
Upgrade to 16 GB RAM, Run Hub server with 1 GB RAM and run the 24 MiniGame servers with 512 MB RAM each, run BungeeCord with only 256 MB RAM. Total will be about 13 GB RAM. And I know you will say that's very less RAM for the server but I have seen servers running with only 400 MB RAM with 300 players with no lag. This is all I can do right now.
I have read through this post and it is impossible. it is going to be cheaper for you to just talk to MCProHosting and setup servers with them. I currently have a small server network with them and it costs me around $30 per month. Upgrading your laptop will probably cost around $150-$200.
Have you thought about DDoS protection? if your ip gets DDoSed, well then your screwed.
What if you internet goes down? Or your parents downgrade the internet package?
Servers arent all about the specs of the hardware. If you were going to do it properly you would have a separate PC running a Linux OS. You are going to need a massive amount of bandwidth for this to works. Probably 10x what you are currently getting.
If you want a successful server network then you need to go to a Server Hosting company. Setting it up is one thing. Getting regular players to join is a whole different matter.
This would be exactly what I was going to say, however, I just wanted to find a way to put it that is... a little less blunt.
Also calling people ignorant who really know how Minecraft servers work and what is really needed to run them is not your best bet. I had a 2GB server, with 22 players on at once with 30 plugins and it crashed. You can do it, but your server will crash within a few hours if you are extremely lucky. It's like a horse running. You have to travel down a road of information. Each GB has it's own horse. Once that GB is over, it transfers off to the other horse, and so on. The previous GB is also being used, but not "fresh". Just rent a server. It's much more stable. And you're not even taking into account DDOS protection. If you get bigger than Mineplex and you are running it off of your home station, then you WILL be DDOSED. It's how life works. If you're good at something, other people will get jealous and retaliate.
I'm gonna put a stop to this thread before it gets any more heated and infractions have to be handed out.
You have got the answer that if you really want to run a server that big home hosting on a laptop is not the answer, but to rent/buy a server rack, and also most home ISP's do not allow server hosting on their connections, a server this large would be noticed by them and they would terminate your internet connection for breach of T&C's
Home hosting is fine if you just have a bunch of friends playing, but once you move to the stage of more people from around the world playing mini games and stuff, you need to look at renting atleast from a hosting company.
Work up the ranks like that and don't just set the target of top server in the world, as to be honest the chances that your server will become as big as mineplex is next to zero.
