I have a BungeeCord MiniGames server and I am planning to make it more popular and better than Mineplex/Hypixel without website hosting just in my laptop and home. And I know you might say "It's just impossible" but I want and have to make it possible because my dream was to create a server better than any server that exists. And what I mean by popular dosent just mean players it also means that server like Mineplex create their own custom plugins for MiniGames, lots of staff, lots of MiniGames with good hubs(good builds)
My laptop and internet specs: 1.7 ghz dual core processor(AMD VISION E2-1800) 6 GB DDR3 RAM(Only 5.6 GB USABLE) I am trying to get $200 to upgrade to 16 GB RAM and its only possible if people donate at my BungeeCord server website. 25 mbps internet downlooad speed.
What I need for my server:
+Lots of more staff
+Custom plugin creators(if you be a custom plugin creator on my server your reward will be choose any rank except Owner and Co-Owner
+Lots of builders
+Other stuff you need to make server like Mineplex/Hypixel/Hive Network
Reply back for any suggestions or if you want to be a plugin creator or builder or staff.
Let me just point this out to you, hosting of home internet is not an option if you want your server to grow similar to Mineplex/Hypixel. You will need to look into a server hosting company like Beastnode, MCProhosting, or Intreppid hosting. Also, running a server off a laptop is not the best way to go; your processor speed is quite slow and running off a laptop is sometimes unreliable.
As for the ranks that I looked into on your website, I'm fairly certain that nobody is going to donate $500 unless they are very generous. I personally wouldn't go about the $100 mark. As for the server; to create a well organized, fitting gamestyle, running off of a higher end PC with a reliable hosting company is the best way to go. But, running a server off your laptop to play with some friends would work absolutely fine, but having 10,000 - 20,000 players on a laptop, home internet hosted server + website, I'm sorry but it just won't happen. Believe me, I've had many experiences with home internet hosted servers, and they've all completely failed.
If I have enough money I can upgrade to a new laptop with atleast 2.4 ghz speed. And I can't afford website hosting. Ram wont matter that much because once my server had 50 players with when at that time I was only running it with 400 mb RAM with no lag crashes problems.
Also my server has more than 100 plugins
That's almost impossible. You can't run a server for 50+ people even with 2.4ghz. If you want to make a server, you would have to buy a PC or serverrack if you can't afford hosting. If you can't afford web hosting/server hosting then you shouldn't even be looking to start a server better than Mineplex. People just don't donate to servers that say they can "be better than mineplex". Most new servers don't last anyways. Sorry for bad news.
The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
You clearly have no knowledge when i comes to computing, hosting. first off is you can but you shouldn't run servers on laptops. second you will need a business class service from your ISP. third you will never get over 10+ people on 2.4 ghz with out getting lag. fourth you must have the storage with enough speed and capacity. fifth you clearly dont have the budget to be running a server if your asking for donations. Sever racks can cost in a range from $1000-$5000 USD depending on the specs
I have got 50 players without lag on 1.7 ghz. And I am pretty sure serverracks dont cost $1000-5000. I h8ave alot of knowledge and minercraft server dont need that much specs you guys are just going being crazy.
Also how much will I need for each MiniGame server and BungeeCord because I am planning to buy server rack.
do some research before you invest on stuff kid. trust me ive ran servers for a while on home network. it just doesn't cut it you will need to invest on new routers and switches trust me even then youll still wont be better than Mineplex/Hypixel.
And the only reason I am creating the server and want it better than Mineplex because if it gets popular like Mineplex then I can get donations and get money. And I don't to spend any money on the server I wanna make it no cost.
Server racks are used to host all sorts of thing that aren't running from a computer, they all work together to host a central server. What the heck is a rack server? If you want to make a server better than Mineplex you will need to invest around $3,000. Running even a 12-player server on a laptop is hilarious. You need to do way more research. Also, I am assuming that you are around 10 years old based on how you write and your knowledge. If you want a server, you can get a good one for about $10 a month with not a lot of lag for your friends and other interwebs people. At your age, their is no point with school and running a dedicated server at the same time. Shovel snow to earn money and mow lawns. You can easily earn money in your neighborhood area.
This will never happen. I am sorry, but this i just impossible. If you want do stuff on your laptop at the same time it will lag out your internet connection so badly. Also, don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure Mineplex has a program that dedicates ram based on how many players are on. Let me repeat: THIS WILL NOT WORK! Ask your parents for money so you can run a server for your friends. Go to collage, get a job, save up for hosting, and make sure you don't spend it all on Minecraft. And it is a Server Rack. Rack servers are only like 2 computer next to each other. Please. Think before you post. Dreams fail kid. Dreams fail.
Unfortunately there are a few pitfalls with your plan. Although I don't doubt that you could get 20-30 people on a server like what you have now, with relatively low latency there are still other issues. Looking at the hypixel server, they likely have a minimum of three nodes, each node having a gigabit port, 128gb of ECC DDR3 Ram, and something like a Xeon E5-1650v2 or perhaps something better, and at least a gigabit internet port. The reason why your machine just won't cut it, is because that's not what it was meant to do. Your processor, ram, hard drive and internet are all designed for the normal every day computational tasks and while they work to an extent, dedicated servers are absolutely necessary if you want to be stable, and professional. (Another great reason to get a dedicated server is that you can blame others when it goes down :p)
As for a developer for your server, you're asking for hundreds, possibly thousands of hours of work for basically free. When looking at your site, you're selling the power to be a moderator, Admin, Head admin and co-owner. This a ridiculous idea that promotes corruption within your server staff. Another issue with these ranks, I believe Mojang forbids this type of activity within the community, giving players items, abilities and access to features within their game is not okay.
Over all it does not seem like you have thought this through. Sure, you want your server to be like all these other servers, but you don't seem to have any unique twist, besides that you're not willing to buy a proper server, or pay your developers, although you are willing to allow your server to be "pay2win". So, my biggest piece of advice on how to make a server like those mentioned, focus less of profiting from your server, and more on your community.
