I'm testing a small dedicated 1.8 server on a virtual machine for a few friends, but can't figure how to change it's name. Currently in the ingame server browser it reads:
minecraft server There is no Cow Level (this is a motd I set in configuration file)
I tried to add 'server-name' option (which is listed under "Classic Server Settings" section on wiki, so it's probably outdated), but it didn't work. Here is part of server.properties file:
server-name=Enchanted Pickaxe
level-name=Flo
motd=There is no Cow Level
enable-query=false
online-mode=false
Currently server is in offline mode, could that cause issues with the name? Or the MOTD means server name in this case? Another question: if I'll put the server in the online mode while "enable-query" is false, will it announce the server to any kind of online servers lists?
I apology if this is a silly question, I'm not actually a Minecraft player, at this moment I'm just trying to host server for friends.

[16:43:21] [Server thread/INFO]: Starting minecraft server version 1.8
JAR file name is "minecraft_server.1.8.jar"
thank you, so I have nothing to do at my side My friend already changed in the client it and it works!
