So basically just so I know my head's in the right place, We downloaded the server, ran it and got the files/folders. I put all of the files/folders in one folder so it'd be easier to access. We then set up for the forwarding on the verizon website using my private ip found using the command promp, then gave it the port number "25565". After all that, I left the server properties document unchanged like you said to, and I started up my server. It stays up and allows myself to connect to the server, and when I'm connected to the server and I look at the java application, it recognizes my name on it. When I connect to it, I put in my private IP found from the command promp, but for anyone else to connect they need my private ip and the port number 25565 with a ":" before it. So bearing all this in mind, what do I do next seeing as he's unable to connect, because when he adds the server is says "Unable to find server" on his screen, but on mine it pops up clear as day?
I was unable to connect. No response.
If you give me/us the brand and model number of your router I/we can look it up for you.
OR, lets do it the simpler way. Use Triangle.gs. It'll be easier than port forwarding and all that.
I'd be willing to use Triangle if you could help me through it, I'm desperate at this point after 5 hours of trying to do this, basically my entire day.
I asked around and everyone said that it should be setup correctly based off the advice you've given me which I'm grateful for, but it just seems to not be working no matter what, won't even work for people who try to connect using hamachi. I don't know what to do anymore besides try this triangle thing that other guy suggested, can you shed any light on either?
I'm getting the feeling that something went wrong in the port-forwarding process. Could you tell me exactly what you did and post a picture of the page in which you forwarded your ip?
You can connect to your own server, the problem is that your friend cannot connect, right?
Your IPv4 is your local IP address. On your picture, it looks like you forwarded 100.40.12.44 which is a public ip address. You need to forward the ip address at
Command prompt, type in 'ipconfig' and scroll down to IPv4 address. It starts with 192.168.something.something

Also, I would like to clarify something.
Public IP: What others can connect to.
Private/Local IP: What only people on your wireless network can connect to, used for port forwarding.
Port forwarding lets connections to your Public IP on a specific port be re-routed to the computer with the private/local IP configured. Then, a program on your computer handles the connection, in this case Minecraft.
Bro, I absolutely applaud you right now. I've been doing this for almost 7 hours and you fixed it all and it's working, people are able to join plus myself. I wish I had a way to thank you, you're amazing.
I have to thank both of you for the help, my friend and I can finally relive our childhood thanks to you two amazing people for taking the time out of your day to help me. I can't thank either of you enough right now.
Better yet if you can try to connect that'd be even better; 100.40.12.44

A friend said for me to try changing the ip from my IPV4 ip to my local IP which can be found by simply googling it, so i've done so.
