Just wanted to update, and ask another questions. I launched the server yesterday, and want to thank the forum community for all the help. I've actually gotten a lot of awards as a teacher for the things I've done, but this I think has been the most rewarding. I didn't get home until 8 last night because my wife and I do free tutoring after school. I came home to a server full of kids exploring educational content. I was up until 10:30 helping out as they interacted with content, built things, etc. Finally, their parents made them go to bed. I'm actually off today and using the time to plug some holes. But I wanted to thank everyone for the support and help, the forum folks have benefited a lot of kids at an at risk school. I'm actually teaching past when the buses roll out.
The holes I'm trying to plug today are due to permissions. A few kids are actually pretty minecraft savvy, and it seems I haven't turned off all the permissions I should. So far I've removed: spawn, home, sethome, and tpa. I set a warp in bukkit if they get stuck, but want to prevent them from jumping around. It made me think, are there more commands I need to get rid of? Their permissions class looks like this with an inheritance of essentials_builder:
(On a side note if anyone knows, they still can't place frames. I had to use frame protect because I use frames in the shops to advertise items, and didn't want them just popping them out. It seem there's a bug with permissions with frame protect and I can't fix it. If anyone knows of a way to fix it, or stop kids from getting the items, I would appreciate it)
But some of the kids were reporting commands they didn't think everyone should have (good for them!), but I wanted to think ahead if I missed any. Appreciate thoughts.
Now for the cool unveiling! I tried to contact everyone I copied and pasted content from to get permission, but some I couldn't reach. If there's something you see on the server that you made and want credit or for me to remove it, just let me know (I mentioned that on the YouTube page). I'm particular about that. In the video below I even got permission from the studio to use the music. Thanks to my wife who decorated and set up most of the interiors for the educational areas. I closed down the areas with command blocks using the new commands, so hopefully the bukkit devs get those added at some point.
