I have a vps and it has 2 ips the first server i can start no problem and have the ip1 configured in its config the second server is configured to use my second ip but upon starting i was getting unable to bind port so i went to /etc/network.interfaces edited it and added a second one so it contains
auto venet0:0
iface venet0:0 inet static
address (ip1)
netmask 255.255.255.255
auto venet0:1
iface venet0:1 inet static
address (ip2)
netmask 255.255.255.255
and restarted the network
Now the server seems start fine but it seems ip2 isn't setup right as i cannot see it online or connect to it is there something i missed?
You should, in my experiences, be able to just set the IP in the config and go. (Assign one to each server, and put one in each config)
Have you tried contacted your host? It seems like the IP is not setup correctly (which would fall on the host). I'd try contacting them.
Yup you were right they tried to say i didnt configure it right then right after sent an email saying they didn't finish setting it up both server are up and running
