I am trying to host a LAN game for two computers running Windows 7. When I host a game it says "Local game hosted on: 0.0.0.0:49229". I am able to host the game successfully, but when my boyfriend tries to join he gets this error: "Connection refused: connect". I have a static IP set up, 198.168.*.** - Shouldn't it be using that? I have tried randomizing my IP and still run into the same problem. We have tried portforwarding, turning off both firewalls, and to no avail. LAN games were working just fine for us before. Any suggested solution would be a great help.
How weird your IP is 0.0.0.0? try to reset it! Make sure you both are connected to the same internet connection and that your both on the same vershion of minecraft.

Check and check. This continues to be a problem as of downloading 1.4.4
Having the sam eproblem. Tried direct connect to Localhost - no joy.
We had this problem with 1.4.2 and fiddling with Zone Alarm's security settings seemed to fix it but not this time. :-(
Go to your router's interface. It will have a section called something like "Attached Devices" which will have a list on all computers on your LAN and their ip addresses. Note the ip address of the computer hosting the LAN and enter that as a Direct Connect in your Minecraft. You will also need to put in the number after the colon that you see under the LAN game in the servers screen.
