Seeing how this is the first result on google it is probably the best location to post the solution to this.
Start Run: Windows+R
Enter: ncpa.cpl
Right-click on Hamachi or your preferred network
Select Properties
In the Network tab select: Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
Click Properties
In the General tab click Advanced...
In the IP Settings tab uncheck the Automatic Metric option
In the box bellow write 1
Click OK and you're DONE
If you want to change your preferred network sometime then go back to the network that you changed the settings to and check the Automatic Metric option, after that you can set it 1 to the new network.
Troubleshooting for Hamachi LAN Servers
If your having problems connecting to the server use direct connection option it works much better for LAN.
If server doesn't show up it's 1 of 4 reasons.
1. Hamachi is not on/connected.
2. Server IP/Port is wrong.
3. You did not do 10 step plan correctly.
4. LAN server isn't on.
alls i did was start the server with hamachi, and have the person add the server ip the game gave me to the list, and it worked fine
LAN has some advantages with some tweaks you can use modded custom map generators (biospheres, cavegen, etc.) without new players needing to download these mods. Which is only a problem because bukkit makes getting plugins hard. Also having the LAN routed through hamachi makes it more secure than basic LAN.
I tried darthrevan43's method a month or so ago and it worked perfectly, but then we both had to leave and the next day we tried to get the server running and it didn't work. I couldn't see the server at all!
If anyone has a solution to this problem it would be appreciated if you could tell me.
- On Mac + Linux, open your command line, and type in "sudo ifconfig ham0 metric 1". (You need to be administrator to do that)
- Start Minecraft, open your world to LAN
- After playing, reset the metric to 0
- Note: I didn't always get it to work, so you might want to use a windows as the server
It gives the error "ifconfig: ioctl (set metric): Operation not supported on socket" I can't seem to figure out what this means. Any ideas?
Since your computer is connected to your homes network so make your own network in hamachi get your friend to connect to the network u both would be on the same network so he can play and u guys will be ably to play-My Theory !
how do you do this on a mac?
