Yep! 100% dedicated hardware, full network line, the only limitation in place is bandwidth (and 1TB is quite a bit!).
So? For $50/mo I have 1000x your current upload speed, dedicated (unshared) hardware, a SLA on bandwidth, a dedicated IP, full legal ability to run my server, and free support/KVM/hardware replacement. Oh yeah, and better transit and line quality than your residential line, as well as uninterrupted power. My provider even owns their own datacenter. I had some RAM die on me at one point, it was quick and easy to have them fix it, and didn't cost me a penny (or more than a few minute's downtime).
thats $600 a year ... plus with a custom build PC you get just that... a custom built PC. crazy powerful and fast.
oh and who's your hosting provider becuase for those specs i dont belive you can get ito for $50 a month

Actually, with Kimsufi.ie you can get something with fairly similar hardware for $65 or so per month.
Let's compare!
Your server will cost you $300 in hardware. It'll also cost you about $25/month in electricity. You will also pay at least $100/month for a halfway-decent business line with a dedicated IP, a SLA on bandwidth, and a somewhat-decent upload speed.
Over the course of year one, I spent $600, and you spent $1800. For year two, I spend $600, you spend $1500.
And, even at those prices, you still won't have the level of uptime, support, free hardware replacement, or this fast of a line.

Suddenly, home hosting doesn't look so good, hmm?
ohh maths my fav subject...
ok so $25 dollars in electric bills + $110 for internet is $135 a month
135*12 is $1620.
you pay $600 a year i pay $1620.
plus a one time $1,400 bill for the computer itself
but seeing as your paying ONLY $600 a year means your not paying for internet service or electricty. and if your not paying for it then your not getting it.
so your saying you dont have electricity in your house or internet service?

Uhm wtf.
Your server is consuming an additional $25 worth of electricity due to its 24/7 operation (it'd be MUCH higher if you were using a gaming desktop to run it), and costs $300 in hardware (for a build with roughly the same specs as my dedi).
Without a server, you wouldn't need to pay so much extra for business internet. If you wish, tell me where you live and how much you pay for internet right now, and I'll try to figure out exactly how much more you'd pay for a business line. The point is, you'll need to pay extra for a line that can accommodate a server.
We're not factoring in the electricity bill for your house (why would this matter in this discussion?), or the existing cost of your cheap residential line (which is slow, doesn't have a SLA, doesn't have a dedicated IP, and doesn't allow you to run a server).
The internet and electricity for my server is handled by my datacenter, and the costs of that are rolled into the $50/mo I pay.

so you dont pay for your internet connection?
and i live in northeat ohio.
plus with my setup i have my own gaming PC. gets 230FPS on minecraft on max graphics settings. its pretty fun to use.
also my connection is plenty fast for all my needs. including the server. the server is the largets user of upload speed in my house. most people dont upload much at all. nobody in my house notices it. so the 15MB/s download is fine for us
also my ISP does allow for servers. i use a domain name so i dont need a static ip. i have a sticky one which is fine.
more maths time:
we both have internet connection yes?
so if we both lived in northeast ohio we'd pay about $110 a month for standard internet + HD tv (if you have HD)
im paying $25 for the server power alone. so each month the server only costs me $25. each month your server costs you $50.
so im paying $1620 a year. plus i have a badass gaming comp as a bonus
your paying $1920 a year
Cogent has business internet with 30/2, 300GB cap and one static IP for $130/mo with a three-year commitment. Without the commitment, it'd be $150. I'm unsure if they'd be available in your area though, and 2mbps is only enough for ~20 slots.
Teksavvy has business DSL with a static IP ($4 extra) at 10/7 for $100/mo without a contract, but I am unsure if they're available in your area. They have a activation fee of $50 or $145, I'm not quite sure which. 7mbps with decent hardware could do... ~50 slots, maybe as many as ~70 slots if you stretch it.
Bell has 10(7 guaranteed)/7 business internet with a static IP for $140/mo with no contract and a $120 install fee. 7mbps with decent hardware could do... ~50 slots, maybe as many as ~70 slots if you stretch it.
Keep in mind that your use of the business line would create lag if it cut into the upload bandwidth, and a dedicated server would have at least 10x the upload capacity of the fastest plan I posted here.
SO.... With the cheapest service I could find (Teksavvy), you'd be paying:
$300 for hardware
At least $50 for setup
$25/mo on electricity
$100/mo on internet
Grand total of $350 initial fees, $1500 yearly fees. And the best part? My server would still beat your home solution for reliability and upload speed, while costing only 40% of what you're paying (ignoring hardware fees).

i think your ignoring the fact that you have to pay for internet service.
i covered this in my last post and found i'd pay $300 less a year than you would

100/15 here for 45$
But i dont live in the states so it dosn't really count.
well i get HD tv with that aswell but it is steep.
but if you lived in the US it would be less to home host. plus i get fairly good tech support. ME! being a computer nerd has its benifits

Okay, so you're going to end up wanting Bell's 16 (12 guaranteed)/7 business line. $160/mo with $120 setup.
Let's re-do the calculations (this time with a perfectly-matched hardware comparison!).
$500 — server hardware (this config matches Kimsufi's 16G plan's hardware)
$120 — setup fees
$25/mo — extra power fees
(Internet) $160 (new) - $110 (old) = $50 extra per month.
You're paying $620 in one-time fees and $75 extra per month ($900/yr) instead of a flat-rate fee of $65/mo (kimsufi) ($780/yr).
You could save $620 and $10/mo ($120/yr) in fees by using a dedicated server host instead of building your own server and hosting it at home. If you rented a VPS or used a GSP, the savings would be even more dramatic.
So, what was your point about home-hosting being "cheaper"? Because I'm just not seeing it right now. The dedicated server won't cost you a penny in setup (there's $620 gone right there), it'll cost you $10 less per month, and will come with a internet line that's 14 times faster on upload than your business line.

well even if bell did service my area, a 15/10 line from them costs $50 a month
redo the mathst
[home host]$50 new internet + $25 electricity = $75 a month flat rate for internet and the server
[dedicated host] $36 (the cheapest bell serivice they offer) + $65/mo = 101/mo flat rate for internet and the server
$101-$75= $26/month savings = $312 a year more for dedi hosts
so with home hosting i get:
a super fast computer
a fast 15/10 internet line
i spend $75 a month
dedi hosting i get:
whatever computer i have
a shitty 5/1 line
i spend $101

10mbps upload business internet with a Static IP costs $50/mo? Kindly point out this intriguing offer, my fine friend, or GTFO from this thread, because at this point your incorrect arguments are getting annoying.
Your math is flawed. Perhaps you should go get some practical experience with this before arguing on a forum populated by long-term players, GSPs, and server admins.
Your argument is also making little to no sense. You are using the wrong terms for the wrong things, and ignoring crucial points.

a 30/3 line for $70 a month which is plenty for a reasonably sized server. i host a small server, only 8 slots so i dont need that much bandwith.
and the fact that i pay $110 a month for internet is due to the fact that i have HD tv in that cost aas well. without HD it would cost $50. thats the same as the bell service i looked at....
plus you still havent told me how much ur paying for. or are you still not paying for it?
You were the one telling me not to count how much you already pay. My residential internet line has no bearing on my server. I calculated the last few values using the difference between what you're paying for residential and what you'd pay for business class internet, as you requested.

Wowway isn't showing me any packages in your area, although that could be geolocation kicking in. That package isn't a business one with a dedicated IP, it's a residential one, and you obviously didn't read their TOS either.
and the fact that i pay $110 a month for internet is due to the fact that i have HD tv in that cost aas well. without HD it would cost $50. thats the same as the bell service i looked at....
That just makes the cost of the server rise higher, as I was calculating based on the difference between what you pay now for internet (and you never mentioned that TV is included in your bill), and what you'd pay for business class internet.
So, now that I know more about your situation, time for a second, more accurate re-calculation about how much it'd cost you to host a server at home.
$120 — setup fees
$25/mo — extra power fees
You currently pay $110 for internet+cable, $50 for internet, $60 for cable. Subtract $50, add $160, end up with $110 extra per month in fees. Total cost (minus existing $110/mo fees): $110/mo
So... You want to pay $620 in startup costs, and $135 extra per month, all in order to host at home? This isn't logical!
Kimsufi would cost you only $65 extra per month, you'd pay nothing in startup/setup fees, and your upload speed would be 14x faster than your option of hosting at home. Oh yeah, and free hardware replacement.
I think saving $620 on setup and $70/month by going with a dedicated server would be a much better option, don't you?

You are using the wrong terms for the wrong things, and ignoring crucial points.

heres the offer i found: http://www.bell.ca/Bell_Internet/Internet_access
also could you point out how my math is flawed please?
and what crucial points have i missed?

Okay, so I've done a little research, and I might have figured out what the hell you were saying.
So, you're saying that this plan is what you'd use?
No, you're not. Not with a 75GB bandwidth cap. Not with THAT kind of TOS/AUP, and with no static IP.

Time for the next idea! I'm eagerly waiting!

well you're the one who mentioned bell services in the first place.. sooo....
plus you still havent told me how much ur paying for. or are you still not paying for it?
also heres a GREAT ISP: https://sales.wowway.com/OnlineStore/PricingAndPackaging.aspx
a 30/3 line for $70 a month which is plenty for a reasonably sized server. i host a small server, only 8 slots so i dont need that much bandwith.
and the fact that i pay $110 a month for internet is due to the fact that i have HD tv in that cost aas well. without HD it would cost $50. thats the same as the bell service i looked at....

Business services, not residential services. There's a BIG difference between the two.

$500 — server hardware (this config matches Kimsufi's 16G plan's hardware)
$120 — setup fees
$25/mo — extra power fees
You currently pay $110 for internet+cable, $50 for internet, $60 for cable. Subtract $50, add $160, end up with $110 extra per month in fees. Total cost (minus existing $110/mo fees): $110/mo
So... You want to pay $620 in startup costs, and $135 extra per month, all in order to host at home? This isn't logical!
Kimsufi would cost you only $65 extra per month, you'd pay nothing in startup/setup fees, and your upload speed would be 14x faster than your option of hosting at home. Oh yeah, and free hardware replacement.
I think saving $620 on setup and $70/month by going with a dedicated server would be a much better option, don't you?

most of that didnt make any sence to me
but i dont need a buisness class line for a minecraft server. i pay $50 a month for internet + $25 a month for server power = $75 a month
your paying $65 a month for the server + (how much do you pay for internet becuase it is a cost you pay monthly)
so im atleast only $10/ month more than you. that should change once you tell me what you pay for internet.
and even if im 10/month over you, i still have this awesome gaming PC...
