Mcbans is probably the stupidest thing minecraft has ever encountered. If anything they have no right ban us. They're just a bunch a paranoid people who hate griefing.
Right here I'm not saying I should be banned, nor that MCbans is awesome.
Once I kept saying ... because I was listening and they (the people that were saying stuff) didn't notice, wanted them to. I got kicked.
Next I gave a reason for why I was doing fake rolls: i wanted to go with the flow. they had not said to stop, but they then kicked me. after this, my rep was perfect. Now think about that.

You got kicked so your rep was perfect? Your point being? I've been kicked thousands of times, but only banned a few times (once on MCBans, 0 times on other services, a few on servers with no GBS).

Everyone hates griefing except for the people who do it. I hate griefers.
Yeah, forgot all about this thread or I would have earlier lol.
Cant remember what all I put. But to keep it short, sweet, and to the point. I dislike MCBans from the point of view of a player and as owner of a server. I probably went more in to this in this thread or another
The majority of the thing is, McBans is put into the hands of those who don't know how to use it properly. There needs to be a bit stricter protocol on who can use it.
I agree, they can't just give McBans to servers that aren't trusted or servers that can use it sensibly, I have actually been on a server with McBans who had terrible staff, who banned people for asking questions.

Exactly. People dislike it that aren't griefers in a lot of cases, a lot of server owners do.
The note I am seeing here is restrict the use of MC-Bans... This is not the thing to do... I few notes point out about the plug-in / service.
1. The owner of the plug-ins don't manage the bans as they come in, they manage them on a case by case basis. If you are having issues with it, speak to them.
2. The admins of a lot of servers are young, some of the mods that are able to use MCBans are even younger. Most of which get a power high and will ban you if they don't like you then put in some false info for the reason why you were banned. This is the reality of MC servers.
3. MCBans is not the issue, the issue are the admins that abuse it, the plug-in is great and should be used more to discourage griefers and cheaters.
Final Thoughts:
Even though some of you were banned for a cause that is not correctly justified, I can also say for sure, that half of those people did do something out of the norm to gain the attention of a moderator to take action upon it. It is the players responsibility to know the rules of a server prior to do anything that could break any of them.

1. That's one of the reasons it's bad. Also, you can't appeal after 2 months, what if you got banned falsely, then didn't actually know because you don't play servers with it...
2. You just described another reason why MCBans is crap, I don't need to respond.
3. The thing is, anyone worth banning is going to evade it. Anyone that could do any decent damage to your server has alts and proxies, and MCBans is actually bypassable. I'm not going to say how.
Mcbans is flawed, It's like a judge and jury working off evidence that can easily be illegitimate or faked. Not only that, one derpy admin can ban you for no real reason, say "griefing, lb proof" in the ban reason and you stay banned. How great is that, such a fine plugin.
This.
Could someone ban JavaChips, look I have proof he was stealing my stuff:
JavaChips, that is why MCBans is bad. People say "well it's just people don't use it properly", in reality that is MCBan's fault. It's like creating a vanilla server, it gets griefed users storm off saying "this server sucks, it just gets griefed" and you replying "people just aren't playing properly". MCBans is flawed, fundamentally. Not to mention the fact that the people who created it included backdoors so they could take over people's servers.

I got banned on a server using MCbans for building a swastika (thats how I make the dimensions of a square) now whenever I try signing into Minecraft I can't connect to Minecraft.net. Think these might be link or anything?

McBans has no relation to the Minecraft authentication servers, so they are not related. [/conspiracy]
Like I've said before, it's a great tool in the hands of the wrong people :\
Oh joy, MCbans. They need to make a slogan: The Worst thing ever made. Ran by us, your stupid staff and server owners!!!!
I myself have seen at least 2 cases in which the server owner banned for near to no reason
1. My friend was on a creative server which had WorldEdit. The server started lagging and suddenly, the map was screwed up thanks to WorldEdit. When he tried to appeal the ban that was placed on him, he was told:
"We have sufficient evidence that [My friend] has griefed [Server]. The logs say he was the last one to select a position with WorldEdit. Therefore, his ban cannot be lifted"
These people obviously do not know how the plugin works. Selecting a position (Which they claim proves he griefed) does NOT edit the world.
2. My other friend was recently on a survival server which somehow had WorldEdit activated. Survival servers have people using Wood axes, but that only selected positions. When the server admin saw this, he threatened to (And I belive he in fact DID do this to some people) ban everyone that was using worldedit (Selecting Positions). When my friend kindly asked him "Why Don't you just take the plugin off?" (In those exact words), he replied: "WHY DONT YOU SHUT UP OR I WILL BAN YOU ON MCBANS!??!"
Point is, MCbans should go away. Sorry, but my opinion is that any global ban service can and will most likely be abused by many people. Just ban them yourself, and if there are too many people shut the server off and put it back on, writing down all the names of everyone you need to ban :\

Yes, but is it the fault of McBans that the owner was an idiot? Maybe the result, but you can't really tell until it happens. If such a thing does, and it doesn't violate McBans Global rules, then appeal it.

Selection of position =/= execution of command. Again, idiot owner.
(Oh wait, you said that below >.>)

I believe this is the case of the Idiotus Ownerus. In which case, move on and appeal.

I still never understand why you would want to take away a very resourceful and useful tool, which is just misused by said idiots. It's very easy to appeal (from my own anonymous experience), and even more so when properly implemented can be entirely useful to someone as an administrator. Obviously the better admins aren't going to judge you on one or two random offenses, and if they're idiot admins, it's probably an idiot server to begin with.
McBans is a decent(ish) solution for a crappy situation. If you don't like McBans then don't play on McBans servers. No one is putting a gun to your head and telling you to use it...
Well it was well deserving of a +1 lol. I still feel thats what it should be.

Depending on whether by the wrong people you mean the owners or the users. In most cases it's both.
OT, there are still a few nice features on it that let prevent things. Like login throttling.
Well, you'd sure have fun getting the site back up a lot after zee's done with his fortnightly MCBans-Nullroute.
