I've used the /give commands before for simple things but cannot figure out how to use them to get a Mob spawner on my server. Has anyone done this before? I know the data value and the mob id, but can't figure out how to put them together to get a successful spawner.
For example, I've tried the following. 52 is the data value for the mob spawner, 51 is the id for a skeleton, and 1 is my guess at how many ticks should be used as the delay:
/give player 52 TAG_String("51") TAG_Short("1")
This does not work and I can't figure out if i'm supposed to have "Tag_String" in there, or if the quotes are supposed to be there or what. Does anyone have an example of a working command for this that I can reference?

mob spawners can't be changed without plugins.
example: /give cheesyguy278 log 64 2
2 is the type of log being giving, which is either birch or redwood, but im not sure which.

You are reading this. It is a waste of your time, yet you are still reading this. "I've seen this before", you are thinking, but you read it anyways. You start smiling about how I just described what you are thinking. Then I tell you I just wasted 30 seconds of your life. Then you read this again...
example: /give cheesyguy278 log 64 2

Ohh ok I apologize, I guess I misread the information on the wiki. So are there any plugins that work for SMP? All the mods I've seen only work in single player.

correct syntax: /give (playername) (itemname) (amount) (metadata #)
example: /give cheesyguy278 log 64 2
