I hardly find any servers that use MCBans as a plugin.
The reason for that is because I hardly even play SMP (the only time I play is on private and Survival Games servers) all servers I go to are based on bukkit encomoney and plugin easy plugins which I find ruin minecraft if they're are a lot of plugins in one server (im fine with anti - grief plugins)
To be honest it is a good plugin from my re-search just that Admins need to use it wisely. If I were a admin and I hosted a server that had MCBans installed, everytime I would get the notification of a boy/girl who got banned on a similar server that also ran MCBans I would at least give that specifc person a chance. Like seriously maybe they just got a ban that did nothing for and just seeing that 1 ban on server means you automatticly ban them? That's pretty much not being a every very kind person and just being lazy as hell.
I understand if you hate griefers or people getting ban all the time on servers then sure. But if it was just 1-2 bans on a server then...
I hate McBans because of a server, well I'm just going to say it was griefed by aVo, I got on the server bot a month after that, because I thought it looked cool and I needed a good creative server having quit griefing. My god it was like Defcon 4, the place was on lockdown, you spawned in a bedrock room and had to wait for approval by the owner to enter the world. Plus you spawn on a 1x1 block surrounded by pressure plates (you spammed with No-Intract messages if you step on one.). So this random guy's flying around me, I ask how to get out of the room, he says I have to wait for the owner. I say this is kind of stupid, and he asks me where I found the server. I truthfully say I found it due to aVo, but I came on not to grief it. He goes all ape<beep> and starts shooting arrows at me knocking me into the pressure plates spamming my chat. I eventually get banned by SpamGuard because I was overloading the server with NO-INTERACT messages. So I got on the servers forums to appeal my ban, the owner replied with, 'aVo fanboy, locked', I had never had any intention to grief. So I disputed it on McBans and it got overturned, but because of that I will never play on another server that runs McBans.
*BONUS STORY* So I was playing on this server, my first ever MC server, and I broke a natural dirt block. Was banned next time I came on saying a Logblock message showing the dirt break message. Stupid admins.
The concept of banning people for rules they haven't broken yet is lost on me. Ban people because they broke YOUR rules, on YOUR server, not someone else's.
Bull. Vanilla servers are good because it's not filled with useless plugins.
There are two types of vanilla; vanilla servers, which are run with Bukkit (usually) and minimal plugins (WorldGuard, WorldEdit, NoCheatPlus). Then there are vanilla-run servers which use the minecraft-server.jar.
What if you are a complete noob who was using the fly mod not to greif or anything but just for fun, and you get global banned. You are unaware of the 60 day BS and now cannot dispute, even though you own a server and don't want that nasty thing on your record anymore. I did not ask to ever be apart of Mcbans in the first place, nor did i even know what it was. So by simply saying "follow the rules" what if you didn't know the rules? What if you didn't understand the dire consequences that this vile plugin had to offer. Now do tell me how that's fair.
OT: I LOVE MCbans. It keeps little [redacted] who willfully choose not to follow rules time and time again off servers!
Oh, so i supposed i should be kept off all servers because i got global banned for using fly mod ONE time back when i was a noob. You think that's fair?? You wouldn't if you had ever been sucked into the singularity of the black hole of mcbans, got spagettified, and had to create a new account to get rid of the record that was caused by using a harmless fly mod with no malicious intent. I didnt even know what greifing was back then! Before you say mcbans is all good and dandy, maybe you should do some research on the horrible experiences some of us have had with your ban-o-matic machine, and think before you use it.

Anyway, back on topic. MCBans. Just no.
