It's a great idea, but terribly abused. Two admins can prevent someone from joining any server with mcbans installed. Also a player cannot dispute local bans, which would force them to make a new account if they would ever like to play on an mcbans server again.
Your reputation is not changed for local bans. And you can dispute global bans if they are unfair, I don't see any issue with that. As long as you go on servers that are run by mature people, not little kids, you should be fine.
Because your reputation can only go down. This basically rewards you for not playing. Say you get banned from 5% of servers you go on, just from disagreements with admins and such (the dispute system is heavily weighted towards the server owners - you can just find a log of someone griefing your server and replace their name with that of the target and that suffices as "proof").
Then if you go on enough servers you'll have a pretty good chance of getting globally banned, and you can never gain this rep back, even if you have godlike status on 50 other servers. MCBans should base your reputation on the ratio of servers you're banned on to servers you play on and on which you are not banned.
Also, there are people (among them me) who were once griefers and don't do it anymore, but who can never gain back their reputation because they're locked out of all mcbans servers. To avoid this, they should either make mcbans a warning-only system (have it show someone's rep and the last time they were banned, for example), or have rep start to grow back after, say, a month without getting banned.

I honestly think the dispute system is pretty fair. The reason it would be weighted to server owners is because obviously there are a lot more players doing wrong than server owners.

You sir, are a genius.
I mean come on, since some people had stopped griefing etc, they should AT LEAST gain their reputation for some time, that's very unfair!
EDIT: Mcbans is an nasty tool because it could scar your account FOR LIFE!

You don't get banned from ANY servers without breaking the rules. Follow the server rules, you'll never get banned.
Griefed in the past but didn't use some form of protection? You have nobody to blame but yourself. If you want to play legit now on MCBans servers, buy a new account.

I don't think anybody that uses MCBans should be considered a bad admin. It's to prevent the trolls, spammers, and griefers that Minecraft is know too well to have. I'd rather lose one legit player than have my server griefed by a grief team. It's a useful tool no doubt about it. Yes, corrupt admins can ruin it but there's a reason you can dispute it you know...

The point is that you shouldn't ban somebody just because they have more bans than usual. You should just keep an eye on them. Otherwise, you're just adding to the amount of bans they have and preventing them from joining even more servers.
It's mostly the same for me as it is everyone else I've read. I get banned for no reason of griefing someone's dirt to get out of a random hole they placed and I'm banned from half the servers in the universe. Hopefully There will someday be a MinecraftAnonymous group that hacks site they do not approve of and target MCbans. >

Targeting MCBans is immature. You're the one who's banned. If it was for a ******** reason, just appeal it. Otherwise, too bad for you, you brought this upon yourself.

So your saying if a abusive admins comes on tp to you said you griefed destroyed your chest then global banned you and made fake logblock proof he was right to do so(never happned to me)? Because alot of admins become abusive or just dont care anymore so please explain even if you follow the rules and get banned for no reason then why? I've seen alot of people banned for no reason once a admin banned a player because the player disagreed with the admin racist remarks.
In that case, you'd appeal the ban. Problem solved.

I'm looking in to MC bans but since this is a topic that is already here is there a warning only mode so moderators and admins get a warning but are able to give them a chance before going all out?
I used to use MCBans on my servers, and whenever someone had a few bans listed, me or other staff members would vanish and just watch what he/she was doing. I heavily disagree with random banning, as being banned for doing nothing on a particular server would really annoy me >_<. As Herogx said, it's not MCBans that's bad, just some of the admins who use it.
i'm thankful now i havent gone into any servers that use this. or at least, i havent pissed off any admins recently.
i think that its a very nice and helpful tool, but also one that shouldnt be used badly. unfortunately, the majority of server admins tend to be douchebags and do things similar to what happened to the OP. if it were me being admin and such, i would just keep a closer watch on players on the list.

I have a perfect 10 reputation, yet it was 5.8 for a while. I new an admin on skype and when I banned him he banned me on two servers. I had to unban him and re-op him to get my rep back. Also, its incredibly easy to photoshop screenshots. just:

/say Mcclurya
then cut out the mcclurya! Wham!
I like Mcbans, as a server owner that uses it responsibly, and only allows my mods temp bans, and my admins local bans. I am the only one who can add a global.
I use mcbans responsibly. Unless they are really griefing something, or stealing, i dont add a global. And normally, it is just a temp ban, and they dont come back.
Yes, people do use it inappropriately, and not as it was supposed to be. But, that is the problem of the server owner, and really, do you want to be on a server with them anyway if they are immature, and irresponsible with Mcbans?
The Servers that use it responsibly,
A. Dont ban for No Reason, or "Over-Ban" people
B. Look at the previous bans as a "History" so to speak. more of a warning than saying, "GTFO YOUR A GRIEFER"
I certainly like to see if i need to watch someone or not, to see if they have a history of griefing/ stealing etc.
You cannot hate on Mcbans as a service, it is a great tool. But you need to hate on the people that use it inappropriately
And honestly, how many people spend the time making a fake logblock to ban you... Really?

Then you're probably at fault. If you aren't, then show the MCBans team some proof that you're not guilty, and they should revoke the ban.

Solution get your own server be admin on it and you will not have any problems
Everyone deserve an opportunity why don't give it to your self
Have fun and happy banning
