Alright... Name's 50000cal. Wanted to host a server, but i had some questions in mind.
1) Is it really a huge recommendation to port forward? I mean, i can easily create a few networks in hamachi and have people join there. Is there some psychology involved here that detracts people from joining just because its a Hamachi forwarded server? I cant port forward since whenever i try to login to my forwarding site, when i input my password, all characters get duplicated so instead of one letter, it is 3 now, so no forwarding for me. But seriously, is it a must, that without it, psychologically detracts players from joining?
2) Is it a good idea to host the server on my own PC and not through network? I heard network-run servers are 24/7. I ran a private server of two and can keep the server for up to 12 hours, however the computer cant hold on to it for many months. So, better use network servers or PC-host a server? The question below might help you.
3) Is this a lie?
There was no editing involved whatsoever. It is just a result straight from the results button, uploaded to the site and cropped to be more visible. I used the sticky at the top asking if i can host a server and how much. But... really? I have a feeling they are lying. My details for the test are: 25.22 MB/S Downloading speed, 23.33 MB/S Uploading speed, and 9000 MB RAM on my PC(Oh by the way, not over 9000). See if you get any different results.
4) Based on the picture above, are they mentioning how much i can allow without lag? Based on this i am sure i can host with 20 people. But i dont know what is the Lag Cap. Answers?

Creeper:Thatsssssssssssssssssssssssssss right!
Captain:WTF!
Over 20MB up and down, that's an ass-kicking Internet connection you have there.
It's certainly more expensive to hire a professional host. That's the only reason I can think to to host a Minecraft server on residential equipment.
WRT Hamachi, I can only speak for myself, but I would certainly not be interested in installing additional software just to connect to a Minecraft server.
That's an odd problem you have with your router. Were it mine, I would probably just replace it with another.

Exactly to the point, people would have to download a program to join, but is it THAT bad that it detracts people from joining?

Only the ones who it keeps from joining.
Do a little survey by looking around the beta servers forum for what types of servers are using Hamachi, and what aren't. Without looking, it seems to me like Hamachi is used for "me and my buddy and one other friend" servers. I don't recall seeing a "we can have 50 users simultaneously please come check us out" server using Hamachi.
Maybe there's lots of them and I just haven't noticed, though.
1. Some people won't join servers that require Hamachi so I suppose it is psychologically thing, on a positive note this can be used to weed out non-dedicated members.
2. If you want the server to run 24/7, a 'network' would be better.
3. Nothing is perfect but it usually give pretty accurate results.
4. I got the same results using the information your provided. From what I have seen; it takes into account small amounts of lag and very little plugin usage.
