In that it will fix worlds in either format, but not convert?
Or will it convert them as well?
Bit of clarity please
It only reads and fixes worlds in anvil format. I thought that was clear (I never said this tool converts worlds between formats). Also, if you are really interested you can go to the wiki of the project, and read the news page, or look at the commits/code. There you'll find more info.
I was just curious, i did not really read anything except for this post, and after reading the OP just did not say that.
This would be a good addition though if you added this though xD
Ahhh... ok, sorry then. This tool fixes worlds with corrupted, wrong located and entities problems, and today I added support for anvil worlds. And it only reads anvil worlds... and I probably have to improve the docs, but I'm really lazy about that X-DD
NOTE: There is a critical bug in the last windows build (it's fixed in the code, in the master branch), so if you downloaded region-fixer from there you won't be able to fix entities problems. I will upload a new windows build today.

New version (v0.0.8) with a new windows build is available as always in github.
Been tearing my hair out over one wrongly-located chunk. Was about to give up. Minecraft's output would note MC found it upon loading the map and claimed to fix it (but it would still be wrong on next load). I hadn't noticed that it was saying this once per map load until the error was in every generation of backup I still had. Each of those maps would eventually go from suck to blow, MC's fps would drop to ≈1, and it would spam my syslog with hundreds of lines per second of "Wrong location! xz@XXXXX" and stack traces.

Hi, I have some problems with the fixer. I tried using it on my 1.8Beta world but the program said there was no file in the directory. So, I take a look at world.py and find out it seems that it only reads .mca. Does the new version still support .mcr? or Is there any older script for .mcr?
Thanks in advance.
Note that I'm using Window Server 2003 and I don't know why the exe is not working so my only option is to use Python script.
Also, there're some reasons that I have to use .mcr without converting to anvil.

EDIT: Solved, I just forgot to try out older .exe . My bad
I'm using this and it does nothing D: My world spawns me in the void and i fall forever, tried this, "No corrupted chunks!" Is there a known fix for this??? I really want to finish my nether trip D: I'll try copy-and pasting the world through MCEdit, because it opens the world perfectly o.o I'll post my results later.

Hey!
You are playing the last snapshot (12w21b), aren't you? That happened to me playing it the last time... as far as I know is not a problem in the world, it's a bug in minecraft, but I don't really know. I can tell you that region-fixer is not going to fix it, at least for the moment, as I said, AFAIK is not a world problem but a bug in minecraft.
Try to go back to the spawn, that helped to me. If you can use commands teleport yourself to the spawn or move you player with mcedit. In my game the problem was that only the chunks in the spawn were loaded (or something really strange similar to that).
Yes, I'm on the latest snapshot, before it broke,it happens but i go to a different world and back, and it then worked.
I copied and exported all of the world I wanted to save, made a new world with same seed, and I'm going to transplant the exported area in the same coordinates. Wish it would rotate it to match the surrounding terrain automatically D: But I'll try that as well.
Moving the spawn point worked! Thanks :DDDDDDDDDDD
My server had several chunks with 2000+ entities in them and it would crash whenever players in that area tried to connect. Of course, I can't FULLY test the server until the minecraft.net servers come back online, BUT preliminary tests prove once and for all that you, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

There are region files in the region directory on all 4 of my servers but only the 4th one will actually scan the files.
I just realized it is looking for .mca files. My other region files are .mcr files. Are those servers just too old to work on the latest version?? When did that change?
Nevermind, I found a converter that resolved my issue and luckily none of my region files are corrupt either!
