Hey guys. I have a problem I hope you can help me solve.
I am trying the move an existing world from my windows server over to my new minOS+ server. The problem is that my world is not named "world" but "survival", and event though i have changed the server.properties the server keeps creating and loading the default "world" map.
I can't change the name of my world without breaking all my plugins.
So is there a way to tell mineOS to load a world with an other name?
okay :sad.gif: will that maybe be a feature of 0.4? I hope so.
I have a lot of plugins witch I would have to modify(multiVerse, muntiInv etc.).
Can you tell me witch lines i would have to change in admin.py file? That would be great. :smile.gif:
Anyways keep up the great work :smile.gif:
Yes it is a RAMDisk install. But I've managed to stop and start the server on my way. Everytime I start the OS, I have to execute the command backtrack 0 on my server, so everything is moved over to the RAMDisk or something and before I power off the OS, I have to backup my server files. I don't know if there is an easier way.
But now I have another problem, if I try to start any server including my server with bukkit, it says that the world is down after I've tried to start it, the problem only applies to bukkit servers, even if I create a new one it never gets started and that problem is new, today is the first time I have that problem, could it be something with new/old craftbukkit files?
And I've tried to move my old ''bukkit'' world to a new pure server, but it still doesn't start up.
I'm sorry, that's not quite my area, have a look around the forums, here:MineOS+ Forums , I'm damn sure there's something like your problem there.
EDIT: Nick! I've sent you an email with the image attached.
I can't wait for the next version!
I was trying to set up a previous version but I am not entirely familiar with Linux, and I heard that configuring things like network and IP addresses will be a much nicer interface with pre-build scripts for customization.
Is there anyway we can see what is confirmed as far as new changes being implemented?
Well I want to be able to edit the web control panel, however I can't overwrite, delete, rename or edit the index.html file as i don't have the permissions. Then I want to go on and edit some python scripts.
With this in mind, what is the password for ROOT????
Surely this isn't a secret is it??? After all we are running this OS on our own machines.
If I bugger it, I can restart and it's back to how it was, OR I reinstall it!!!!
Just to clarify, I'm after the password for the ROOT user, NOT tc.
P.S. I'm running the 64bit test release of MineOS+
My first goal is to simply add a NEW button to the admin panel, edit admin.py to process the new button and fire a new server start command line. ie Start Java -server with a new command line, so I can optimise java for my particular hardware. I want to use new Garbage collectors and SSE=3 etc etc. The idea is so that I can experiment with the commandline until I notice an improvement on CPU useage. As it is, MineOS+ is doing a pretty good job, however CPU useage can spike to 50% or more when teleporting (only one player playing and map already generated), so I was hoping a better JAVA setup may minimise the CPU, as I have done similar for client Minecraft and local JAVA. I've also noticed that despite creating World One with a mem useage of 1536m of RAM, the MineOS+ terminal (using TOP) shows that java is only starting with Xmx=1024m and not 1536 which I had stated. I also noticed that the Java runtime parameters are the basic params, and could do with some personal tweaking.
One thing I noticed in the web Admin panel (which I was unaware of), by looking at the source, is that if you place the mouse cursor in the "cmd/val" text box, then press the arrow down key, a drop-down list of commands appears. This can be used for CONSOLE commands. I guess others already new this, but I didn't so it was a nice surprise to find it!!!!!
OK, well I got it to start with more RAM. I simply put 1536 in the MEMORY textbox in the CREATE SERVER section, then clicked START. Checked with TOP and it's using the memory I allocated.
Hmmm now if I could just alter the java runtime params.
Hello, whenever I try 'sudo ./10_setup_sudo.sh' I get the error 'sudo: ./10_setup_sudo.sh: command not found.' But when I use 'ls' it gives me the list. I booted from USB and this worked with the normal MineOS but the normal MineOS web control panel won't work for me right.
There an easy way to automate offsite backups? I archive once daily, there a way to save/send it to another PC on my network?
Awesome work guys keep it up!!
Until the rumored 'cool stuff' (sshfs?) shows up I've been:
Running a nightly archive
Using a python script I found called ftpsync to mirror the local archive directory via ftp to my hosted web server, for safe keeping.
Delete all local archives older than 7 days
That way I save hard drive space and only have a week's worth of archives on the MineOS+ machine, but I have nightly archives available going all the way back to day 1 if I need them.
If you just want to move it to another computer on your local network, you could scp it over in a cronjob. Is samba installed by default? (I'm at work and can't check right now :smile.gif:). You could even drop it into a Windows share if so.
Congrats on the new release guys, and sorry I have been away for so long. It looks like you have been doing awesome work though! I started to update the OP, and will ask the mods to transfer ownership of the thread.
