Adding my name to the list, I've been getting the same issue. I had been using 0.3.0 up until now. The configuration I'm aiming for is 0.4.x on ESXi 4.1 u1, with ramdisk. I've tried to use both SCSI and IDE controllers, and have tried the special SCSI build found here. I've also tried following hexparrot's guides. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Not sure what I did, but it seems to have been installed now. However, after installing and rebooting I don't have any of the scripts in the home folder. Is this on purpose? Also, I can't access the server.ip/admin page.
Alright, I seem to be able to consistently install the new version. I still can't see any of the scripts in the home folder after the installation reboot, nor access any webpage.
I was wondering if someone was going to pick this up and add all those features the original was lacking! You have a long road ahead but I hope all the best! I will track the progress and be testing this out soon, as Windows is a terrible OS to host a minecraft server!
What sort of things would you like to see implemented ?
Well the current to-do list is awesome and implements almost everything I felt was missing. I just want to double check that Auto backups are either in or planned? Also I would like a scheduler. I plan to run this with a Ramdisk if possible for highest return of chunk info to my clients, so I would like an automatic backup system and a redundant backup of the entire system to a backup partition that I can make at setup. I would also like to see automation of server refreshing. Automatic timed message commands to notify my users of server restarting. And a timed final backup and graceful stop with a full computer restart and automatic server startup once booted. Not sure if it is possible with the current build but that is the most useful feature I can imagine right now.
Once MineOS+ is loaded, try running the command, 'tce-load -i mineos+.tcz' and tell me if the scripts appear then -- if they do then I'll give you further instruction.
You could also try the new ISO I'm uploading here.
mineos+.tcz not found!
Also I remounted the ISO after installation. I tried to install mineos+.tcz from the ISO, but it comes up with:
Locating MineOS+ grub directory...
Grub directory not found. Is MineOS+ installed?
You can add a desktop to MineOS+ with a plethora of basic functions -- open office, firefox, filezilla to name a few
What distro is it based on? I'm really partial to my headless ubuntu server. I also run zoneminder and subsonic and I'd hate to rock the boat. But if I could incorporate those easy enough it'd be worth a shot.

Is it possible that you are going to release a version of MineOS+ that gives you the option to install it with a GUI (once installed at least)? That's really what I would prefer. Minimal function just a file browser and text editor and direct access to the nogui or gui version of the minecraft and bukkit server.
I'll add it as yet another 'extras' feature -- please note though that it will push your RAM Usage up to about 80mb static compared to the 34mb static we now have.
Furthering bnm's post over an x64 version, we are deciding whether to use JDK6 or 7. There are numerous threads saying mine craft doesn't play nice with JDK 7...
Why JDK rather than JRE? And if thats what you mean, have you seen threads saying it didnt play nice with OpenJDK or Oracle?

Thank you for the reply. I think a 4gb system should be ok with 80mb of ram for a gui ;P
Also I haven't done much in terms of real testing using debug and logs, but I got rid of jre6 in place of jre7 and Minecraft (which used to crash when it hit 2gb of ram used on my 8gb machine) now will run at full capacity using up to 6gb of ram and not crash or glitch. I also got a mild fps bump from 120 to about 150 which is pretty significant. (Mind you this is with optifine on and the settings to load chunks and not discard them but keep them in memory which is how I achieved 6gb of ram used)
As for server, I have a 4gb machine that has as much stripped from windows as I can right now and I can launch the vanilla server with 3.5gb of ram allocated to it running under java7 and the overall performance has increased even to outside connections. I have stress tested that with 8 users on at once with 15 distance and the order to place and break as many blocks as you can for an hour. No glitches or hiccups or anything going bad.
We'll be migrating to Oracle JDK 7 in 0.5.0, and I'll push out the GUI extras asap :smile.gif:

On another note, please can the Mods transfer editing rights of the front page to me, as requested by the OP ?
Thanks,

Can't wait! I should have mentioned that that was 8 people doing intensive server work for an hour, on a 20/5 cable connection and all connections were external with about 10-13 hops each (i was remote to the computer watching and talking to people the whole time.)
So basically instead of CentOS I'd be running this OS? Do I still have access to all the commands that CentOS offers or is this limited to Minecraft only stuff?
On my VPS I host a small website for the server as well, via /var/www/html. Can I still do that with mineOS+?
2) MineOS+ uses the industry leading Lighttpd WebServer (YouTube use). This, coupled with PHP5 and MySQL, creates the perfect environment for hosting anything you want ! Be it forums or something more complex such as WordPress or Joomla.
I had to go back to May because by August, because lighttpd is no longer listed. Of course, that does not speak against lighttpd as a quality webserver--it IS, and quite frankly, should be deployed in so many places rather than Apache--but despite its advantages, low footprint, and usability--sometimes there are just other factors that determine world share...
I'm having a problem with getting 0.4.0 working in VMware 7.
I've gone through all the configuration parameters and rebooted the VM, but after it reboots and takes me to the bash, if i type ls, nothin is listed. I dont see any of the installation scripts or the update script. I also can't cd to the /home/tc directory. It says i dont have permission, but when i try logging in to it with the password i set in step 2, it says the password is incorrect (ive tried reinstalling multiple times being extremely careful with the password and this happens each time).
Sounds like that card is bad since it can't pull the firmware from it. Use "ifconfig -a" to view all installed interfaces. Your second card will probably be eth1. Try "ifconfig eth1 " then "ifconfig eth1 up".
As much as I'd like to help you out, creating an OpenVZ or Xen image would require someone donating (administrative) access to a server running it.
If any server hosting provider was so generous as to do that, I would definitely give it a shot.
Love to talk to you on skype
We have got the server for you guys and just need some clarification with the template

I'm using the Mineos2 right now and i got canary working by just chaning the servervar files
It works fine. I just have to do a backup before restarting the computer cause it dosen't save the files in the ramdisk
'Could not find ramdisk image: /boot/microcore.gz
boot: '
I'm using the 'newest version' according to your USB install page.
MineOS is impossible for me to use, no matter which version or how I install it, I don't have any disks to burn an ISO on either so I have to use USB.

If only I had the talent. Nonetheless it looks like you've done an amazing job. Wish my server was solely minecraft so I could try it out.

Lighttpd is actually one of the least used webservers in the world. http://news.netcraft.com/archives/2011/05/02/may-2011-web-server-survey.html

Any idea what's happening?
Aha.
Thankies! :3
Now when i boot up i get the following messages:
Should i be worried about these?
Also, what's the root password (i never changed it)? I'm trying to edit sshd_config and it wont let me because i dont have permission.
