This is exactly what I was looking for when I decided I would host a server. I plan to make a server exclusively available to my friends in Oklahoma, so that I will be the first person in my group to host one, and I'd been waiting for a time when SMP was functional enough to be really a game".
Change the first minecraft archive directory to match your own (it may be a different drive, or different if you're using a ramdisk).
Now browse to your server IP (without port 8080), and the archive directory will be listed along with the snapshots directory. Download to your hearts content!
You can do the same for your incremental backup directory if you so desire.
EDIT: You may or may not need to edit /opt/.filetool.lst to include the /var/www/httpdocs directory (and then a sudo filetool.sh -:cool.gif: so changes there are saved in the httpdocs directory upon reboot. I did that early on and have never tried without it so I don't know if it's necessary or not. :smile.gif: Can someone make the symbolic link without editing .filetool.lst, reboot, and see if the link sticks?
A derivative work--a collaboration at that! This is awesome. Though I just heard of it (and havent tested it), I'm certain the combined efforts of enthusiasts way outdoes my solo capabilities fifty fold--
Yes, I'm still alive--but with the job back in--february was it? and the billions of updates released every other day back then, my solo efforts at dev and support were ... quite pointless. To see something come out of it like this is a real treat!
As a sidenote, to increase the legitimacy of your developmental works--if you need hosting for your bugtracker/forums etc---I can replace the ones I used to host, letting you guys administer it from a moderator POV. Let me know! It's fantastic to see that my labors have endured and been enhanced over the months!
Is there an update function to this as in Hex's original version? I am looking to go from 0.1.0 to 0.2.0.
**EDIT:** Also, I am playing with the 64 bit version, I do not think java 64 is installed or called out to be used on it as I cannot start a server up with more than 2.5g memory....

I got tinycore x64 installed, and my server itself boots with the 5 gigs of ram I specified. But I cannot get my minecraft server to boot with anything over 2.5 gigs.... I think it is using java 32, but i do not see how to force it to use java 64...
I installed MineOS+ on ramdisk and when the computer im running it on turns off, the world "one" folder disappears.
Anyway I can fix this or get it to do backups every 15 minutes?

You just need to read the stuff on the original MineOS site, especially the crontabs stuff (for scheduled backups)
You also need to backup before you restart or yes, it'll all be lost.
You then need to restore when you turn it back on.

thank you for getting this started, and for being that last straw that got me to try virtual machines.
i have been like a madman since and actually got a windows 98 version running with 3D graphics support for those old games that i never had the heart to throw away, and are now coming back down off the bookshelf and into the computer.
thank you, and i am glad to see you are still among us.
Is there any way you guys can update the first post in this thread with more recent information. Also, who is in charge of the @MineOSPlus Twitter account? Updates being tweeted would also be useful.
I was saying that problems should be posted on the forums, as it would make everyone's life easier. Any way, Next time I have half decent Internet, I will try the latest version out, and compare it to running the server on my Ubuntu installation. Nice work guys!
Although I see my logo still isn't up on the wiki.....
I don't understand how to stop the OS in virtualbox. Because if I close down the OS by ''closing'' it, it doesn't save. So if I start it again and open up the WebUI it says that the worlds are not found. So how do I stop the OS and save all the files?
Type sudo poweroff into the machine to shut it down safely. As for not found, is it a RAMDisk install?
^^My blog^^
Simply create a symbolic link to the archive directory in the http root directory, which is normally just used for map images.
In the terminal (linux, not the game terminal), type:

Also, I can't say whether C10T is working ATM or not.
Unless you ISP has blocked cz.cc sites, you should see it above. If that fails, Ill email it to you.
EDIT: Also, can I suggest that you use wordpress for the main website? I think that It would work a lot better for you. I could set it up if you want?
Far out. I Give up. It looked right on my computer. It wasn't addressed to you but Nick. I'll have to email it to him.

I Don't think so. Try it, but memory is the really important thing for this sort of thing.
