I've written a really simple applescript application for anyone who wants to host their own Minecraft Multiplayer server on the Mac! You don't really need any know-how because it has an amazingly simple One-time setup procedure.
I thought this would be a wonderful tool for mac-using newcomers hoping to play Minecraft online with friends.
If you like it, let me know, by dropping a comment or being super nice n' junk
If there are other apps out there that achieve this automation more simply than mine, I would definitely like to be told haha.
Also If there is a better spot for this topic on these forums, let me know.
I hope all you mac users can benefit from this!
There is an Advanced.txt inside the EasyServer Download that explains it, but essentially just replace the "world" folder that is generated the first time you run the app
Everything works well, except the Port Map application says "Router incompatible." Is there a way around this?
Thanks,
SlamBlasta
Your best bet is to do a quick google search using the brand of your router and something like "port forwarding" and find some instructions. It shouldn't be too hard, but it varies router to router.

this could be the best thing to happen to minecraft servers ever!!! Perfect and easy to use.
I've had the same problem with the Port Map program. ("Router incompatible"). I do live in a townhouse with about 20 other routers in range (however all secured networks including my parents'), and the router itself is a Ubee... I had never heard of it before we moved here and switched providers. o__0 If there's any other way to port forward, or fix this problem that would be lovely~ :smile.gif: Excellent program you have here! I like that it's a simple server set up... for mac! :biggrin.gif:

Like I said before, methods for port-forwarding vary from router to router/brand to brand. I've really only had experience with Apple Airport routers and 2WIRE brands. I imagine that your router has a website for configuring settings, do a google search using "Ubee configure port forwarding" or something.
I just did a quick one for you, and I think that if you visit 192.168.100.1 in your address bar, there ought to be some settings. That may not even be correct.
how would i put in mods? i got the server up, and thank you very much for your help in creating it but how would i be able to edit inventories or make commands?

Well doing all of that would be the same as always. There's nothing special about my application in the way the server is set up or managed, so the installation of the mods is up to however the individual instructs you to... I don't run any mods myself, so you're better off checking the threads for the mods you want for instructions.
Hey i've created my own server for a while with your help, but now it says "server Outdated". I have made my own research and people are saying to update the server. How can i do that with your software?

Oh, that's easy, just re-download minecraft_server.jar from minecraft.net and replace it inside the EasyServer_Mac folder. It's because the 1.4 update with wolves came out. All the software'll just work after that
You're going to have to be more specific... I've already answered plenty of questions and solved a bundle of problems, read the other posts here as well as the comments on the youtube page for the video in the original post. If you still have a problem after taking a look at those suggestions, then ask me with more info...
This is prob the 7th server Ive made, each from a differnet guide because I cant seem to have any friends join it. My roommate and brother can join but they are just in the other room. My friend in NY cant join and my friend just 20 miles away cant seem to join. Do you know what Im doing wrong or how to help? : C
Edit: Your friends dont have to have Mac's as well do they?
