So my server isn't even starting up after I put my IP address in. It pops up:
[WARNING] **** FAILED TO BIND TO PORT!
[WARNING] The exception was: java.net.BindException: Cannot assign requested address: JVM_Bind
[WARNING] Perhaps a server is already running on that port?
I just have my normal IP address in there now and I'm not sure what the problem is considering I've run servers in the past :/ Any help is appreciated

I may HAVE just figured out how to portfoward! Create a MC server with NO port and NO IP, then start it, use local host to join, then on the console you should see your IP at the end dare! BTW It has to be Vanilla, it MIGHT work
1.) You shouldn't be changing the IP and port in server.properties unless you know why you're doing it.
2.) I'm not entirely sure about this, but if you use localhost to join, I'm going to guess that it will return 0.0.0.0 or 127.0.0.1 as your IP address. If you log in from an internal IP, it returns the internal IP of the client.
3.) Even if you did know your IP address, how are your ports forwarded? It's not some magical process in which the sheer incantation of your IP address will make it happen.
Long story short, if you can't figure out something as simple as forwarding ports properly using rules on your router, the world could probably live without you having a server. If something so simple as forwarding eludes you, wait up a little, because plugin configuration will probably blow your mind.
