UPDATE: I am proud to announce that we have create a partner service through whatsmydns for domain testing which is now included in the User Panel. This is what the testing service looks like: http://www.whatsmydns.net/gamereip/
Why: Well I guess 2 reasons. I think some people can afford to get nice hosts, urls, ect and have the technical knowledge to but its not readily and easily available to everyone. If you have a fun/popular server, you shouldnt be restricted from a professional look. I really strived to make this website as simple as possible; from the credit system to the creation/extention and modification of the ReIPs (word we coined for redirections :tongue.gif:)
So basically you are creating a service directed at user's without much technical knowledge to attempt to better help them. So does that mean you are also assisting all of them in the rest of their configurations, such as port forwarding, firewalls, ect?
I would say 90% of the issues people have is because they don't know **** about computers yet they attempt to run a server anyways...
It appears you are attempting to provide a limited service to a technologically deficient customer base, not sure how well that will work out.
I do wish you the best of luck in these tough economic times.
However, said economic times don't warrant me switching from DYNDNS that offers two addresses absolutely free of charge.
Thanks bro! Yeah as I said this thing wasnt for a pay my rent kinda thing at all, so I am not concerned on a monetary standpoint but rather on a "I wanna see my project succeed" standpoint. It aint everyday that someone codes a easy to use dns service like this. It was a fun project. And I will continue supporting it and our many current users. Plus all revenue will go to buying more domains for our clients to choose from!
I have addressed the Dyndns thing already :smile.gif:
Thanks for this. As to all of you DynDNS folks, go have your ath.cx domains. I'd rather have mcreserv and I'm sure other nice ones you'll obtain in the future. I found sign up and use easy. although Google Checkout would be nice, I much prefer it over Paypal. Otherwise it's great. Perhaps in the future, adding an application to allow automatic domain updates for your IP using a small Windows service or program ? Keep rocking!

Thanks for the review bro! I will surely look into adding google checkout soon (will def be added). As for the app that might be a bit harder but we will try our best :smile.gif:
... SO does that mean you are also assisting all of them in the rest of their configurations, such as port forwarding, firewalls, ect?
You just going to ignore the questions you don't want to answer, eh?
Wow. haha. Would you believe it if I said I missed that post? In my defense I've even answered all the DynDns questions so I am not avoiding any :smile.gif:
I'd say this service is directed at anyone who wants a professional/relevant URL to swap their IP in a low cost setting. However, for a person who owns a webserver (that offers DNS services), and owns their own URL this might not be the best option.
As for support, we will support anyone with anything. My most active forum is the server administration forum b/c I love answering questions people throw at me. Back in October when I first joined the Minecraft World, I was pretty clueless about how to run a server and asked many questions here and now I am returning the help given to me. To say its a limited service because I did not explicitly state this would be to say that the DNS service doenst work fully and properly.
I think (just look at the server list) there are many people who have servers active and set up but dont know how to set up a url to redirect to the IP, and we are here for them.
for free you get it like: YOURSERVERNAME.dydns-server.com
if you pay 4$ per month you get YOURSERVERNAME.com
This issue has been addressed 15 times in this thread. Please read the thread :smile.gif:. Really? dyndns-server.com? I'd rather share my IP. We offer $0.75 a month for a relevant url. 4 bucks a month comes out to 48 a year...
DON'T:
Spam - TL;DR, +/-1, one word responses, memes, imageposts, doubleposts, etc.
Post Redundant Threads - Be aware of other threads in the forum, and don't duplicate (see "Use Seach" above).
Bump Threads - Do not bump your own threads to get more replies or older threads that have dropped off unless there is significant new information to add. Necrothreadia is preventable disease: let the dead lie.
Post ban lists - This can lead to innocent people being banned from the servers.
Troll/Flame - See "Be Polite" above. Insulting and baiting will not be tolerated.
Create Multiple Accounts - If you have a good reason for having a clone account, contact a staff member first. Advertise - You can have a link to your personal (non-commercial) site in your signature, but links promoting outside websites or merchandise will be removed.
Not to be a stick in the mud, but in reality this thread should be deleted anyway. By charging a fee, you are promoting a commercial website. But I'm sure you know this, right?
MOD EDIT: This sort of service is perfectly appropriate to discuss in this forum. No rules were broken.

Yeah I looked over the forum rules before posting. Clearly your wish for luck for us was a cover for other intentions (e.g being a stick in the mud?)
Your intentions aside, I read and reread it and came to the conclusion that the rule was set in place for advertising/spamming non minecraft related services. First off I am not spamming, I am occupying merely one of 27,567 threads in this subforum. Second off, this is a 100% minecraft related and server administration related post. And finally, McMyAdmin is an extremely popular paid/premium service that live here as well: viewtopic.php?t=110256
I would've also appreciate your maturity in the matter if you PM'd me on this matter instead of sending this thread off topic.
Just a comment: you should stop saying that you are giving people a URL.
That's not correct. Your service is giving out host names. A host name is just one part of a URL.
A URL is a fully qualified Universal Resource Locator, and it includes a protocol, a host name, and a path and file name. http://www.google.com/index.html is a URL. "www.google.com" is a host name.

Same discussion as we had with the VPN thing... laymen's terms != geek terms.
Thank you, sir. The creeper appeals to the Minecraft audience. As far as using it you can do what you want with it.
Though, for your service I give you !
Good luck with your service. I'd use it but my server rarely has more than 2-3 people. :smile.gif:

really though, how much would one domain cost for you to host?

Regardless, we'll just let the mods decide that. I wont derail your ad anymore.
