I have this problem on both classic and the beta servers. I have all the right ports open and anyone from outside can connect np. ATM my friend is on the beta server I have running. But no matter what, either putting in the internal IP of 192.168.1.1 or the external one that my friend is using can I connect to my own server on the same computer thats running it. anyone have any Idea whats wrong?
192.168.1.1 is your Gateway or Address that is used by all computers as a standard gateway, but not as your true individual address. I'm not an expert, but it's a bit like seeing those commerials with the credit cards that have 0000-0000-0000-0000. They're numbers and on the credit card, but worthless. I myself have 192.168.1.1 as my Gateway too, for an example. To find your IP address, which is different and unique per computer, click the following link to find out what your true IP address is:
Then plug in what the IP address it gives you and see if you can connect to your own server. Also, make sure the server is up and running and that your ports are forwarded prior to this to make sure it's going to connect. Good luck, and if it doesn't work, then please post back here and I'll either give it another shot or someone more technically savvy can take over.
EDIT: Also, in case I read your post wrong, if your friend is on your server, and you know for a fact it is your server that you're running, but you cannot connect to it yourself, then I am at a lost myself. I haven't really heard of such an instance where you're locked out of your own server but your friend can join. Are you sure it's your server and not his?
