Brand new copy of the iso, put it on a flash drive and managed to get the install to work. Comes up to the bootloader then gives me an error 15.
This boot error is most likely due to incorrect drive or partition selections during MineOS system file installation.
During MineOS installation, you must specify the correct drive IDs and partitions. These IDs are dependent upon your specific hardware and may not be the same as the example ID presented by the MineOS installation program.
A utility commonly used to prepare hardware for MineOS installation is Parted Magic. If using Parted Magic, note the drive and partition IDs it presents for your hardware, such as 'hda0', 'sda0', 'sdb1', etc. Many people prefer GParted, but Parted Magic supports many more older systems, and has a fully featured GUI with GParted built in.
Hi first thing, MineOS doesn't like running off of a usb stick. At least on my system.
Now the current problem.
Whenever I try and start a server I get:
executing command: cgi-bin/server.cgi?command=start&world=two&argument=
{'world': 'two', 'command': 'start'} starting up world...
using port: 25565
world two: down
Third slight annoyance. No easy way to set a static ip. But that's done now. I'm using IPcop firewall and it doesn't allow dhcp on the orange (dmz) interface.
I'm getting a 'Outdated Server!' error since the 1.4 update despite updating the server files from the web interface. Anyone know how to do the update?
Xeo
Check your uservars URL for the minecraft server.
The new one may or may not be at the amazon site.
Alternatively, at your own risk for usability (make backups!), you could cold download the new server jar and copy it over to your MineOS server.
Finally, if you've a bukkit server you'll have to wait until the bukkit guys come out with their new version that works with v1.4.

Are you trying to run two worlds at the same time?
Port 25565 is the default for world one, though I'd expect the "error" report to mention "World already running on that port".
An error I once had before correcting it was restoring the world from bootlocal as user:root. All the file ownerships were then messed up.
So, check ownership of the world directories. If owned by other than user:tc you won't be able to launch from the web-ui and situation needs fixing by changing ownership.
Hey does anybody know why the "Map" button doesn't work correctly for my server install? I'm running the latest MineOS (downloaded and installed like 3 days ago), vanilla minecraft 1.4, nothing special really. I click the "Map" button on the Admin Page and it doesn't create any new directories or files unless I'm missing them entirely. Nothing is visible on [my.minecraftserver.com] where maps of my worlds should be viewable. Any ideas?

I don't have any other worlds created or made. This is a fresh install.
same story out dated server. tried updateing no luck tried takeing bucket off no luck. check my patsh they match post above.
when i force stop servers run update it says keeping all files then when i try to create server it says server all ready running no action taken.
then when I go over to my world 1 tab i check world status which cmes back as world one down i hit start says world 1 up but then when i hit world one status it says world one down and will not let me bring the world up just says world one up then when i check world one down.
when i try to log in I get the out dated server notice.
pretty much a linux virgin here. I am useing winspc and can move around copy files with it and use the ./30_paths.sh to edit my paths. I do not want to switch this back to my main machine!! I mean it's been running great on a 2.1 ghz with a gig of ram running mine os!!! I don't wanna go back to putting it on a quad core 3.4 ghz 8 gig machine!!! just to run a server in windows 7 Please help me save my mine os!!! lol
If anyone who is a REGULAR poster in this forum thread would be willing to winspc and or web page admin into my server box please contact me. I set up a temp password for getting into it and I have backed up all the files. I know how many things are wrong with just inviteing anyone into my machine on the internet but I'm about ready to just scrap this machine I'm at my wits end with it.
I deleated my world folder and minecraft server and bukkit .jar then i ran update and had it create a fresh new world. It worked and let me log into it and play.
Next I copied the back up world files and player info to restore all my players had built.
But the odd world up bug is still driving me crazy.
also wheni hit the map button it says generating maps but when i look on the web page for my server there is nothing in my snap shot folder. Am I missing something?
I think it's a Bukkit problem as I just started one of my non-bukkit worlds and I'm able to login with no problem to that one, but as soon as I have bukkit enabled, it gives the 'Outdated Server' error. IS that BUKKIT_JARLOC ok?
So I've had my server set up for about 5 days now, and it works great. Thanks for the easy to set up method. But I was just wondering, is there a way that I can get the files from my world out of the virtual machine to transfer into another server/back up? And how do I mod the server?

To have mods on your server you need to be using a Bukkit server then there will be a folder in your world folder labled plugins. In there you should put the plugins which will be jars. http://plugins.bukkit.org/#ti=&ta=all&au= Thats a link to all the released plugins for Bukkit right now. To be exact in were the plugins folder is usr/games/minecraft/ram-worlds/one(or what ever world your using). Also ram-worlds may be different for you if you didnt use the ramdisk method.
Sorry for not being able to help you with backing up your world, if no one replies with how I will post a detailed response on how to back it up outside of the virtual box.

Just did a fresh install with ramdrive.
Followed tutorial video exactly.
Except I set a static ip using the info hear: http://codeemo.com/mantis/view.php?id=2
Edit: I did have to change permissions of eth0.sh using the command chmod +x /opt/eth0.sh
But that shouldn't make a difference, just something to remember if you have to set a static ip.

Okay, but how do I copy the mods over? And is there a way that I can change my server to a Bukkit one while keeping the world I have?
To anyone with problems, regarding Bukkit, C10t (mapping) or if you want an easy guide to an x64 MineOS, the wiki has again just been updated fixing all these problems! i.e uservar fixed for c10t and bukkit since 1.4
Okay, but how do I copy the mods over? And is there a way that I can change my server to a Bukkit one while keeping the world I have?
I know you can by using 1 method for sure and another that may work. The one that may work is a lot faster is that you simply put a blank text file with the name "usebukkit" in your worlds folder. Make sure that you have no extenuation on the file though.
The method that will work is that you backup your world which I will explain later and then create a new one that uses Bukkit. Then remove all duplicate files from the new world that your original world has. Then place your old world back into the server.
Now to explain how to backup/place mods into your server. This will vary depending on your OS so ill go into depth for windows as its what I know best. If you have a different OS then I'll post a guide for that OS as well later :smile.gif:. To start your going to need to get Win SCP http://winscp.net/eng/index.php. Win SCP is basically a file browser that works over SSH. Once you have that installed run it and you will be prompted with a login screen. From here you want to click new at the top right of the box. As for what to put in follow the first minute of this guide HexParrot made http://minecraft.codeemo.com/config_putty.html. Hostname is the ip address you got from ifconfig, username and password are fairly self explanatory and private key file isnt important. After that save it with what ever name you want so you dont have to retype it every time. Once thats done click the login button and it will give you a file browser. From there you browse to usr/games/minecraft/ram-worlds/. Then copy what ever world you want to backup which will be one, two or three to the place of your choosing.
The other option which is similar is to use the archive button on the webgui and then browsing to /mnt/sda1, 2 or 3/minecraft/archive/(world number/. In here you will find all the archives you made, there all dated including the time they were made so it should be easy to find. Once you find the one you want copy it to your desktop or place of choosing and you have your backup.
As for copying the mods to your server go to /mnt/sda1, 2 or 3/minecraft/plugins. This folder is were all your plugins go every server will use the plugins in here. To copy them simply drag and drop but I believe they have to be uncompressed first.
Hopefully this was comprehensive enough and that you can understand my directions :smile.gif:. Just post if you have further questions or if you use a different OS then windows outside of your virtual box.
@Xeodus - You need to update your uservars file to have the latest download link to the latest Craftbukkit jar. The version on your system is Craftbukkit build 422 and we are on build 617 now.
@Nickjf20 - Added some info to the wiki about installing Dynmap. Is there any way way can move it to a less sketchy domain? mineos.wikia.com is available right now, how about there?
The domain and hosting over at mineos.000a.biz is free and was always meant to be temporary until some more permanent solution could be found i.e. an addition to Will's website or some other community funded solution.
I completely understand, i just worry people will avoid the wiki with its answers to their questions because of the address.

I've had a look at wikia before but I'm not sure about it tbh, its all a bit ... messy
Everything seems too macro-community dependant, and to me, looks more like a ultra modern user forum than a proper wiki.
I'll look more into what we can and cannot do as regards to administration on wikia, but until then, I think we should look at some proper private hosting, I may have a friend who can help out on that front, but as for the domain, I'm not sure at the moment.
I done a lot of browsing on Wikia wikis but not much editing so I couldn't really say.

mineos.co.uk is free and its £2.50 a year so not bad !
That doesn't sound too bad. I would gladly offer use of a subdomain on one of the domains i already own as well. We could use mineos.phant0m.net for instance. I could temporarily host it on my private webserver, but too much traffic would kill my puny little DSL line so its not a long term solution.

Will seems gone, and I am looking to release a "fixed" 1.28.11 with all the uservars and crontabs correctly set up and updated, and also to auto install mysql and some other planned things.
I agree, he hasn't posted any changes or replied to bugs in over a month. I was getting ready to do the same, or completely fork the project. Interested in joining forces? This too good of a project to let die off.
