do i need hardware thats yonger than2004/5 time for CRUX?
Like the original MineOS, CRUX has no hardware age requirements--all sorts of hardware, old and new are supported in CRUX, with the most expansive selection in CRUX 0.4.11
Sorry, I don't have much time to check out the posts before me, and I don't know if you've gotten this before, but you should totally submit this to distrowatch! Its pretty cool.

This distro is far too specialized to get any good use out of being on distrowatch. That is, I'd love to see how it ranks and I'd love to have it get more exposure, but people are unlikely to download a Minecraft server unless they need specifically this, arr.
Hi I am sorry if there is a question like this but can a computer with 2X512 RAM, 1,6GHz 1 core, 2X80GB HDD can oparate with Mine OS the newest. The mashine is veri old from 2005-6 i think.Pleese help and thanks for you time.

If you feel the computer is sufficiently powerful to run a Minecraft server running java, it's powerful enough to do it with MineOS CRUX. (its mineos, but a better version--see mineos.codeemo.com
does this work for windows? if ot can u make it for... cuz i have problems installin java in my linux (i got ubuntu)
It's a Linux distro. So, to answer the question, it doesn't 'work' with windows--but if Windows if your main OS, you can certainly use virtualization software to run this atop your windows...see the wiki mentioned above.
Changing the file doesn't help. I'll assume it's a network card problem? Or is that the cap in CRUX?
In addition, is this still seeing updates? It's been a while and there could be a few things added.
I'm running a RAMDISK config and for some reason save-all doesn't seem to do anything, It can't find filetool.sh where it's supposed to be (I cd'd and ran ls to make sure, checked in a few places). Any chance someone could upload it for me? There really should be filetool integration in the actual admin webpage.

My ISP blocks port 80 and I need to change the hiawatha.config file to another port number. But Filezilla/WinSCP both prevent me from editing that file saying "you do not have permissions to edit" (something to that affect...).
How do I grant permission to SFTP clients to edit files?
Just wanted to post that this is still alive and now has a well working FreeBSD variant!. I am currently running two servers on an older computer i picked up for $150 and have very few issues. When i have run into issues ive gone to the MineOS discussion group on Google groups which hexparrot is still very active on. Plus you cant beat the price! So if you have an older computer laying around and you want a minecraft server give this a look.

Ah... Google Groups! Good! I was trying to find a forum as I have some questions.
Is this compatible with no-ip.com? I want to make a server but I also want my computer to be safe
Hey Camtrains, I know it has been a few months since you post this but yes, you can use this mine no-ip.com. The thing about no-ip is you just need to your computers internal and external ip addresses. I use no-ip with the BevoTechPack server I host for me and a couple of friends through MineOS. If you need any help setting that part up just let me know.
On a separated note, does anyone know if you can install packed through the Webmin panel that allows you to create a public filehost so I can distribute a couple of files to my friends that they would need?
I don't know if anybody has already asked this But just in case I will ask anyways but how do you set a player to an op with the mineos internet interface?

For crux related questions, drop by http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/509740-mineos-crux-the-most-simple-way-to-host-minecraft/page__p__6721213#entry6721213 (minecraft forums) or https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/mineos (google forums)
For the most part, the standard kernel included in MineOS CRUX 0.4.11 should handle all home-related hardware.
Thank you

Running a speedtest via the following always returns 3.64M/s (mbps);

Can It work on windows? I know it's dumb for asking something about linux for windows but I'd like it
No. It's an operating system; it replaces Windows, not runs under it.
